It's all relative. Probably the most difficult of the cinque terre villages to get to. Take the train, then wait on a van to pay to take you up to the village, but very quaint and at night, most of the tourist types leave. Great hiking to other towns or take the train or even the ferry for a water view. A bit of a hike to the sea, 365 steps down and then.....good variety of small eateries and sandwich shops. Wifi sketchy but doable at a few places, not the room. Room had daily maid service, hair dryer, TV , etc. beautiful view of terrace mountains side and grape arbors and the Mediterranean. Rooms are repurposed village homes divided into rooms. I sat on our balcony and read, looking at the sea, looking at local laundry flap in the wind, listened to children playing below, church bells, lemon trees. All the fitness center you could want by hiking the stairs and the paths.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room with a view

I cannot say it was fantastic or luxurious, or terrific.
I was however, exactly what we wanted for a visit to Corniglia. It shares the spirit of the place: simple, kind, like the owners are taking you in their home instead of you being a client.
I would definetly come back, I loved it.

What a beautiful village! We stayed there for only two nights and we did not want to leave! The room was perfect. Very clean, nice decoration and the view: Gorgeous! Corniglia was my favorite village. The marina at the bottom of the hill was quiet and we spent our two evenings there with a bottle of wine. We had the regular room but it was perfect. A/C in the room, private entrance directly on the street so you really feel like a local! After two nights, locals recognize you on the street and smile to you. Especially in this kind of place, it is really important to interact with the locals. Do not act like a typical tourist, really noisy, taking picture of everything and everyone. Try to act like a local and do not leave a touristic print on this wonderful destination! We really want to go back there.

Room Tip: Everything is perfect!

Stayed in July 2013 for 2 nights. Overall a great place to stay, though the room was on the small side and it is a hike up from the train station, haha.

Firstly, I'd recommend taking the shuttle for 2 euros from the train station up to the town if you have luggage. Even for experienced and seasoned hikers, it's a rough hike with your packs/luggage.

Sandra was very friendly and helpful, there is no formal check-in for the rooms so you'll just have to arrange with her to get into your room initially.

The rooms are very nice, very clean and modern. Small, but sufficient. We had a great view of the town and country side.

The location in Corniglia was awesome, off the main drag but on a little plaza with a bunch of shops, cafes, and restaurants. We really liked Corniglia compared to the other Cinque Terre towns, but it is a LONG way down to the water to go for a swim.

I discovered Villa Sandra through TripAdvisor, and am glad I booked it for our stay in Corniglia. Modern decor and fixtures, spacious, and very clean. We had one of the rooms with a balcony, from which you can see the water and watch the sunset, and it was heaven. When we return (and we will; we MUST) to Cinque Terre, we will stay here again. Those four nights in Corniglia were a perfect, quiet, relaxing treat before our return to the U.S.

Three of us stayed at Sandra Villa or Villa Sandra as the local call it in early June. After climbing 300 steps from the train station to the small town of Corniglia (population 200 residents), we asked the locals for Sandra. The friendly locals do not speak any English but are happy to direct you to Sandra’s apartment / office. It is not very hard to find really because there is only one dead-end, pedestrian only, street leading to an observation area 100 meters above the sea. Sandra does speak English and took us to an unmark builing on street level. Looking rustic yet well kept on the exterior, the interior are completely renovated. Our room has a shared balcony overlooking vineyard and ocean. The balcony is narrow, but enough for a couple of chairs and a coffee table. Beds are comfortable. We woke up to the most peaceful mornings in Italy. Unfortunately, breakfast is not included. But coffee shops are just a few steps away. Overall, it was a very nice accommodation in a small Italian costal village.

FYI. First, ferries that service Cinque Terre do not stop at Corniglia. Second, if you purchase the Cinque Terre pass that includes unlimited train and bus transportation, you can ride the shuttle bus from the train station to town, thus avoiding the 300 steps climb. It leaves soon after every train arrival.
