I loved staying in the Cinque Terre for two nights with my husband in July. We rented the Studio Mare and, as promised, it has a balcony with a beautiful, breathtaking view of vineyards on mountains and the sea. What I loved most about Studio Mare (one of three apartments owned by Eleonora, to make up Sole Terra Mare), was the view and the town of Corniglia. It was a great place to be.

The studio itself really feels like an apartment. You can hear the people who live upstairs and can hear the kids across the way as they get called in for dinner but I think that is part of what makes it comfortable. It has two single beds and a queen bed, also a small kitchen with stove, sink, and fridge, and a bathroom. It would be a great deal for a small family. Even as a couple, it felt like a good deal for 95 euro/night (cash only). The stove was not working when we arrived but Eleonora was very apologetic and had a person right away come and fix it so that it was usable for our stay.

The studio was clean and comfortable. The only room that wasn't very comfortable was the shower/toilet room (separated from the bathroom sink by a door). The shower was incredibly cramped, no windows in the room, and not well ventilated. The curtain was constantly blowing and sticking to my legs while I showered. Towels are provided. There was hand soap provided but no body soap or shampoo. I thought it was a little strange not to have any of that provided and think it would be a nice touch that would really make a difference to many guests.

Besides those little comments, we really enjoyed ourselves and would certainly consider Sole Terra Mare if we are lucky enough to be in the Cinque Terre again!

We had apartment Sole, which was spacious and clean, with a partially obstructed view of the sea. There is a terraced garden adjacent which was lovely to sit out in.

Corniglia is one of the nicest of the five towns.

You need to be fairly fit to carry your baggage up the many steps to the apartment.

Loved the town of Corniglia--quiet (God knows, really quiet compared to the frantic pace of Vernazza), scenic, great location in the middle of the 5 Cinque terre towns. Easy to hike in either direction along the CT trail.

We loved our host Eleonora, who went out of her way to give us helpful information and show us around. And when we had a train ticket mess-up, she took us to a friend who fixed us up in no time, no charge. The 2 pics of our place show a nice little bedroom on one side, with the kidney on the other, with a small dining table. But we had a nifty patio surrounded by plants right outside the door. We ate outside most of the time. Full kitchen set with fridge, utensils, etc. Good sized bathroom. This was not a bed/breakfast set up.

This little town is up and down (as all CT towns are), and there are lots of steps to go up to the place. However, we made it fine, although if you are disabled, i wouldn't pick this place or maybe this town. The place is about 1/4 mile from the center of the village. Although there is a little room, maybe a block or so away, you need to be walking to and from in the village (as is true for all of the CT towns). Although I checked free parking below, parking in these towns is a problem--not much parking space. These towns are densely compacted, built before cars came parking came along.

About 70-80euros, and worth it. The views around the area were stupendous since it is on a hill, and surrounded by vineyards. See my pics!

Sole terra Mare is everything it claims. Clean, bright and beautiful. We spent 3 nights in the apartment, evenings drinking wine on our balcony and hiked right out the door to Vernazza. A short stroll to the bakery and we had a white linen breakfast every morning on the patio. The apartment was well equipped, Eleonora and her daughter Claudia are very friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable, plenty of hot water, towels, extra blankets. The apartment is situated on the quiet side of town facing into the setting sun. A delightful vacation.

This little village was wonderful. I loved being away from all the tourists at the end of the day. I picked Sole Terra Mare because of all the wonderful reviews about the host. She must have been exhausted the day we arrived. She showed us to our room while talking with a friend, gave us the keys, and left. We stayed in the TERRA room because that was the only available room. It looks exactly like the photos on the web site. I asked about the view in an email and she said "Has a good view of the sea, the entrance is on the private driveway where there is a sea view and country." I was disappointed when I realized you had to be at a certain spot in the room near the window for any view of the sea. The room just above us had a balcony with a wonderful view. Check into that room if you go and maybe you will find the host on a better day.

Room Tip: TERRA is small and limited view of sea

Great room, clean , spacious, lovely bathroom. Claudia helped us get settled and she was very accommodating. Loved staying in Corniglia (despite the 400 stairs to the village); we found it to be the quietest of the five villages. Absolutely beautiful!

We stayed in the "Terra" room, which was exactly as pictured, if maybe a little small, but adequate for two people. The bed was comfortable, the room well decorated and stocked with maps and such, and the bathroom clean. Agree with the other reviewers that the mirror is mostly useless. I would recommend getting one of the apartments if able. It was a real plus to have free parking with the room too, which made it a real value when you consider daily parking in the village is 20E. However, be warned the drive in and out of Cinque Terra is hair raising, requires a small car, and takes longer than you think to cover just a few km. You will have to carry your bags a short walk from town. Also, be aware that the Corniglia train station is about 100 meters below the town, reachable by 380+ steps or a windy hilly road. If you arrive by train, you can take the bus up into town, however, it was never running when we needed it. Its a long climb. Also, we went in April expecting only to hike because the weather would be too chilly for the beach, but it was actually quite nice beach weather and we wish we had carved out some swimming time.

Room Tip: Get an apartment room.
