“Thanks for making our stay perfect!”
Reviewed 4 June 2013

We had a perfect stay, in the unit with a balcony view and a small kitchen. Mariangela and her sister are very accommodating hosts -feeding us generous breakfasts to keep us going on our long hikes. tip 1- don't bring big luggage! the streets are cobblestones and there are stairs everywhere. tip 2: take the train (early AM or late afternoon) - we drove a little rental car and it was really scary. wifi in the Main B&B house only.

We decided to return to Cinque Terre and immediately emailed Mariangela about staying at her B&B again. We had stayed there two years before and were treated so well. Our first visit we stayed in the main house, this time in a different apartment. It was very well appointed and we had a good view from the small terrace, which has a table for two where you can have a Med view while snacking or having wine/cheese. Mariangela and her sister do a great breakfast, and either personally took care of our laundry, or had a service take care of it. We like the ambience of Corniglia. We took the long hike the first year to Vernazza, this year the difficult path to Manarola. Good markets in Corniglia, restaurants are very well priced and good food quality. Make sure if you take the train to Corniglia, you get there by 7:30p because the last shuttle bus up the hill is at 7:35p, otherwise you have to walk up the steep steps or take the long route up the road. Highly recommend this as a second time visitor, and it won't be our last time.

The first thing you need to know is the location of the office/dining area where the owner Mariangela is. The address given is correct but it is not in the right sequence if you follow the numbers from the main square. My wife and I went up two flight of stairs following the sign only to find that the unit number is not there. It is located on the right if you walk down the main street from the main square for about 20-30 meters. The room we stayed in is the Camera Matrimonial Blue. It is much smaller than what I was expecting based on images from the website, but it is clean, cosy and nicely decorated. The larger rooms/apartments seem to be located on higher floors above. The benefit of the double rooms is having direct access to the terrace where you can relax at the garden tables, or even lounge chairs, and enjoy the sea view. Unfortunately there is no wi-fi available in the room. Internet access is available at the office area. Breakfast is served at the dining area, so you will have to make your way to there in the morning. The food is simple - coffee or a selection of tea, yoghurt, specially prepared egg (sunny side up) and croissant/bread. You will find that Mariangela takes a lot of effort in decoration, there are beautiful lamps and ornaments everywhere. She does not speak fluent English but was extremely warm and helpful in making our stay a pleasant one.
In terms of location, Corniglia is situated in the middle, so travelling to the other towns is convenient. The only drawbacks are that the connecting trains do not always stop at Corniglia and there is a daunting 385 steps to climb in order to reach the town from the train station. Shuttle bus is free with Cinque Terre card but the runs end rather early at 7:35pm. If you intend to have dinner in other towns you will need to plan ahead.
Overall, this B&B is a wonderful and cosy. I would recommend this place if you are intending to stay in Corniglia.

Just perfect what beautiful host's the sisters were, we had a one room apartment on the ground floor and a two bedroom apartment with kitchen on the first floor all were extremely comfortable, clean and very cosy. Breakfast each morning was very plentiful and beautiful, our host went out of her way to ensure we enjoyed our stay and both restaurants recommended were excellent.
Corniglia is a great place to base your self when exploring all 5 villages much quieter and we found the local people extremely friendly and helpful. We will return to this beautiful part of Italy and this great B & B

First off, let me recommend Corniglia as a terrific place from which to hike the many trails of the Cinque Terre! It's central to the five villages, and quiet and charming. Nestled in one of the main streets only 40 feet or so from the bus stop (catch the green National Park bus up the hill from the train station if you want to save your legs for the steep trails of the Cinque Terre), is Le Terasse.

It's a great location, there are lovely terraces from all the rooms, and a big central terrace where the views of the hills and the sea are strikingly beautiful. We travelled in March and spent two nights in Apartment 2 - a two bedroom apartment with a fully outfitted kitchen and dining area. The beds were fine, the bathroom quite lovely, and the decor clean and pleasant. Lots of knicknacks about which helped create a homey feel to the space.

One of the best parts of this lovely B and B is Mariangela, one of the two sisters who run the place. Her hints on places to eat, trails to seek out, the conditions of the trails, and her sunny disposition all helped make our stay memorable.

Though it was early in the season and we weren't able to partake in one of the raved-about breakfasts prepared by Mariangela, there are several coffee bars just across the cobbled street with yogurts, fresh brioches, and great machiattos. Don't miss Mariangelo's cousin's restaurant (also just down a few doors) -- the Cantino de Mananan is fabulous!

Room Tip: Apartment #2 is a great space on the second floor. Views from both bedrooms and a great terrace from...

I booked this due to the fabulous reviews on trip advisor. We had extremely limited email access at our first bed and breakfast in Venice, and were unable to return her emails (not being able to access it) they were slightly rude, or maybe I took it the wrong way, but we were pretty much told that if we didn't email back in a certain time she would not meet us to let us in. When we had email we returned her email staying we would arrive at 4pm, she stated she would meet us then. She didn't show up until 5pm. She rushed us into the apartment and then rushe out saying she would be by in the morning for payment but had a hard time when I asked what time she would be by. We got "sometime, 9, 930, maybe 1030". Which is a big deal seeing as it held up our day waiting for her (it was 1030). The stove was "broken" and she could not serve breakfast which was fine as she discounted our rate to the non-breakfast rate of 85 euro.
With everyone else's comments, I agree the bed was a nightmare. I am very boney, and after sleeping felt as if both hips were bruised. The worst part of the whole experience was the heat. As we were there in cold weather, she had turned the heat radiators on....only the place could not have been above 55 degrees indoors, barely warmer than outside. We tried multiple times to turn the heat up. My husband and I could not get out from under the covers without freezing.
Overall it seemed clean. There were some large dust bunnies on my scarf when it fell behind the chair in our room, but other than that clean. The view was nice.
Decent stay, but be wary about the time issues and heat...

Good evening Gentlemen,
I'm sorry for what has happened, so I apologize, but it was not my intention to be rude, Maybe we have not understood well, I have come to take when you're there, if I had a bit of a hurry because I had a train to La Spezia , the heating was on and the next day I realized that there were problems in the system overall, the day after my train was a little late and when I arrived at 10:30 am I have not found any more in the room. I am very sorry, unfortunately the season does not help us. My renovations in the kitchen were not yet over. For the mattress instead do not agree with you because they are orthopedic mattresses and new, bought last September.
However, after all these excuses I hope I can somehow repair and if by chance I go back to these parts you would like to host free for a night with breakfast, maybe in the spring
Thank you and still have all my excuses.
Mariangela

Even if you're traveling in the off-season, the Cinque Terre is amazing. The apartment in Le Terrazze is a great place to stay. It's a large two-bedroom apartment, centrally located and has enough dining options open in the winter. The terrace is a huge benefit and offered a panoramic view of the mountains, sea and other architecture in Corniglia. We only stayed a couple nights, but it was perfect for us. Great views, space for our small children to be in their own room and plenty of tranquility. We never actually met the hostess as everything was prearranged. Other than a momentary pause while trying to find the room, everything worked smoothly. Definitely recommended!
