“Great Value wonderful service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel during our stay in Manarola, first it is just steps from the train tunnel, which means no hauling your bags uphill. Simone was wonderful... upon our arrival he provided us with great information about Manarola, and the Cinque Terre. It was one of our birthdays and he took care of a dinner reservation at a wonderful restaurant, his staff were equally accommodating. The rooms are simply appointed, very clean, and you cannot beat the price. We will definitely be back and the San Giorgio. Reserve a room you will not be disappointed! Thank You Simone for a wonderful stay!

We enjoyed our three days in Manarola and this guest house was perfect for us. It is very easy to find and quiet at night! The rooms were clean but very simply appointed. It was a rainy, cool May and we found ourselves quite chilly but Simone was happy to provide an extra blanket. We had room 2 with a balcony overlooking the town-- that really made the accommodations perfect. There is not one on site much of the day and night and I was not totally comfortable with this, although the staff was very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this guest house for a stay in Manorola.

After a tiring day walking up and down hills and steps, it was lovely to come home to our room in San Giorgio and rest. Clean, light and airy with windows overlooking the little street. Very easy to find when you come out of the tunnel it's facing you. The manager, Simone, was very friendly and helpful, going out of his way to show us where to go for walking and eating, doing laundry and panoramic viewing spots. He also galloped up the stairs (no lifts) carrying our heavy bags for us.
To anyone visiting Cinque Terre, base yourself in Manarola and stay at San Giorgio.

The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was very updated (it won our best shower award for our European backpacking trip!) The location is just beautiful and the view out the window of the street is very sweet.

Simone was extremely helpful and speaks very good English. He definitely helped us out when we missed our connecting train and had to check in around midnight instead of the usual check in time. He was a little bonus to the location!

I highly recommend the Affittacamere San Giorgio for your stay in Cinque Terra. We will definitely stay here on a future trip to Manarola.

Just a tip*** Make sure to bring your own toiletries and snacks for your room. This is less of a hotel experience and more of a studio apartment rental (without the kitchen) experience. This didn't make our stay any less enjoyable, considering we planned for this, but don't expect to be greeted in a grand lobby with a continental breakfast in the morning! :)

The room was very clean, new and very big, however it was very basic. Don't expect it to have little hotel toiletries or a newspaper or tea and coffee facilities. However it is only a guesthouse and not a B&B or hotel. If you staying expecting this then you won't be disappointed.

It was so convenient as it was at the end of the he tunnel that you walk through from the train station. Next door there is a small supermarket which we used for breakfast provisions and a small cafe as well, which went grabbed morning coffee from. Their breakfast menu was also good and very affordable.

Simone is very friendly and helpful, and provided great advice on the best restaurants to eat at and what walks we could do given that some of the Cinque Terre paths were closed due to avalanche. He also waited for us to arrive which was past the Reception's business hours of 8.30 - 3.30pm.

The only issue we had, and probably due to you expectations, was that the morning delivery trucks were noisy and depending in your hearing, you can also hear the train from your room as well if you had the windows open which we needed too to get some fresh air.

I've not stayed anywhere else so had to provide a comparison, however we can say that if we returned to the area that we would probably look for other alternatives as I didn't sleep very well during our stay here.

Room Tip: We were only the first floor, in a King room.

The room was very clean, new and very big. Simone is very friendly and helpful, the restaurant that he advice is very good and the short trial that he suggest to walk has an excellent panoramic view.
This place very near train station, you can see the door when you just going out of the tunnel. If you go to Manarola late at night, prepare some foods and drinks, nothing to eat at night.

Wow, I've learned a lot in three days. First off I learned I was super lucky to pick Manarola and this hotel. I went against Rick Steve's who said Vernazza was the spot but Vernazza is really is just full of crowds and tourist bus groups.

The hotel is more like renting an apartment and it's modern and clean. It is by far the best hotel I've stayed at in my 3+ weeks traveling in Italy.

Some tips for hiking. If you see at trail that just has a sign that says closed and it's not gated off or impossible to to jump its fair game. The hikes near Manarola are the best. The closer you get to Vernazza and the town north the trails are flooded with people.

If you take one thing from this review: stay in Manarola...stay here. You'll be proud every time you see someone else lugging luggage to worse hotels :)
