This review applies to Giorgio 2, the apartment for rent through Affittacamera San Giorgio starting Spring 2014. We stayed three nights in July 2014, and our lodging played a major role in how much we enjoyed our Cinque Terre experience -- of our eight destinations in Italy, Manarola was my favorite!
The apartment itself is very comfortable for two -- ample queen-size bed and spacious closets in the bedroom, a balcony equipped with a table and chairs, a practically-equipped kitchen, and even a loft area with a small bed, which could serve as additional lodging, primarily suited for kids. We liked that the (free) WiFi was fast.
But the real charm of Giorgio 2 is its location. Its perch above the single thoroughfare that winds down through Manarola provides fabulous views from its balcony, in one direction the quaint harbor and views of the Mediterranean along the Cinque Terre coast, and in the other direction the higher reaches of the village and its surrounding vineyards and olive groves. During our stay the balcony afforded a view of the sunset over the Mediterranean, but this will depend on the time of year you visit.
Customer service was fabulous: Simone arranged for his assistant Clara to meet us promptly at Piazza Papa Innocenzo IV (at S. Lorenzo church), where we unloaded our luggage, and she escorted us to the apartment, even helping lug our bags. Be prepared to handle your own luggage to reach the apartment, but then that seems to be the rule for all lodging in Manarola.
Considering the fabulous views, we felt like we got good value for the price. I also liked that we could pay with credit card. Most other apartment rentals in Manarola require payment in cash, which is a potential hassle, given that the one and only ATM in the village was out of service the entire three days we were there. Note that guests are responsible for their own breakfast, but it's a short walk to reach multiple breakfast establishments on the main thoroughfare.
My only recommendation might be to bring your own pillow if you are particular about pillow firmness. We each had a pillow that was overly stuffed, so sleeping was less comfortable than it could have been (although being able to hear waves break throughout the night makes up for a lot of imperfections!). I suggested to Simone to provide a choice of pillows -- not sure if he will follow up on that advice.
