“Great time! Worth the stay.”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

We stayed 3 days in Manarola at Vandiris (room #2) and had a great time. Private balcony looking over the sea, decent size room, good private bathroom. It's a bit of a hike to get to, but once you do, it's totally worth it.

Only a few small things. The bed wasn't overly comfortable and the patio shares it's time with a public lookout. Not a huge deal to us, but definitely some security issues as someone could easily hop over the bar.

Try to get room #3, the balcony looked out of this world.

Room Tip: Room #3. #2 and #5 have balconies as well.

My family of five booked two rooms at Vandiris. The rooms were clean, with basic comfortable furnishings. Each room has a private bathroom, also very clean and modern. We had a little trouble finding it at first, but the people in the town were very friendly and indicated the way. The place sits at the end of the road, with a piazzetta overlooking the sea. The views from the rooms are amazing. There is no air conditioning, but the evening temperature in early June was pleasant, and the fan provided was adequate. Since we were just getting "affitta camere", i.e., rooms for rent, we did not expect maid service, and were pleasantly surprised when we returned at the end of the day to find the bed made and the bathroom cleaned. The owner, Rebecca, was extremely helpful and accommodating.

Room Tip: there are a couple of rooms with balconies, which are great using at the end of a long day.

We have stayed in room #2 and room #5. The location if Vandiris is great. Super views, literally at the very edge of Manarola (hanging over the edge of the cliff). Because it is at the end of the lane, it feels nicely private. Rooms are clean and feel recently remodeled. Rooms #2 and #5 have small balconies, room #3 has a large one. Rooms #2 and #5 are smallish (but's in Cinque Terre, everything is packed into a small package). If and when I go back to Cinque Terre again, I will either stay in Vandiris or Deborah's other location down the walk, Arpaiu (friends stayed there and it was beautiful also). Deborah was great, very friendly, responsive, and flexible. She answered any and all touristy questions with patience.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 5 face the south and have small balconies.

Vandiris is managed by Deborah, who also runs Arpaiu, next door. The room is simple but very clean, spacious enough and bright with a large terrace with a large table, 4 chairs, and 2 wooden loungers (room#3) looking right over the water at a very reasonable rate. However, be prepared to walk about 10 mins uphill (read: have a small suitcase on wheels) to get to to your door. However that is how the whole town works. Love the big mugs for tea (provided). Great mini fridge + kettle. Only negative was the bed - it's not of the best quality - but the price is right. Also, there is metal framing on the terrace designed for a canvas, I assume, which would be great to have to keep cool in summer months. You can't get a better view - 180 degrees of water from the deck. Love the sound of the ocean while you sleep! And free wifi which is a great plus.

Room Tip: Room #3 has a large terrace right over the water with 2 wooden loungers, a large table + 4 chairs

My wife and I stayed here for our 30th anniversary. It is one of those rooms that you always see, but never get to stay there. In our case, we did get to enjoy it, and the view/balcony is incredible. It is just a room, with en suite bathroom, fridge, and kettle. The balcony hangs over the ocean, and you look down to the beautiful Cinque Terre coastline. The balcony has a full size dining table, and two lounges. Some nights we fell asleep enjoying the fresh breezes. It is a quiet location, not a bad walk from town. We liked Manarola a lot, not too big, easy to get too. Great food, hiking, and spots to catch a drink at sunset.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a huge balcony overlooking the sea.

After trying to reserve a number of places in Cinque Terre, we were able to get in Vandiris #5. This is not an apartment, but the room did have a kettle and mini fridge. The room itself was just fine, but felt a bit like a dorm room between the furnishings and decor. But it was more than adequate for a place to stay. What the room did have, and I think may have had above any other room in Manarola, was the most incredible view! We had a very skinny balcony, with a table and two chairs, off of our room. From the room we could see the train station and the expanse of the Mediterranean. Looking down below was essentially down the cliff-side. We witnessed some of the most incredible sunsets and moonlit nights. And all night there was the sound of crashing waves. We would highly recommend staying here! (Not sure of the views of the other rooms, so make sure to check that out.)

Room Tip: Room 5 has private balcony.

A group of us stayed in 3 Vandiris rooms in late September 2013 for our entire Cinque Terre trip. Originally tried to book Arpaiu (as did most of the others commenting) but it was full, so Vandiris was suggested. Same woman manages both. The rooms all look out on the sea, with beautiful views. This is not a hotel, just rooms, so there wasn't daily maid or towel service, nor was there breakfast included. Small refrigerator in room, so you could store breakfast foods if desired, but the pastries and espresso shops in town were perfect spots for dining and people watching. The rooms are very quiet because the place is at the end of the road. Just the sound of the sea, and the occasional train at night, and it isn't loud. Two of us had to spend the last evening other accommodations, and even though we couldn't see the station from those rooms, we could feel and hear the train rumble each time it went by.
Room 1, on ground floor, opens up onto a public terrace, but it's at the end of a road, and no traffic. We had a fabulous picnic on that terrace of food and wine we'd picked up, just gazing at the sea, the full moon and the stars.
Room 4 is upstairs, same great view, very large bathroom by European standards. Yes, the toilet seat is tall--height reminds me of the accessible toilet seats they give people after knee replacement surgery. Room 5 had a small balcony looking out to sea as well. Room 5 also had ants in the room, but I think that's because a previous occupant left food in the room when they left. (It was still there when we checked in.) The cleaning lady, when notified, sprayed the room.
We arrived late in the day, and manager had given us instructions on how to reach the place. No problem finding it. Keys were in the door as promised.
WiFi problem initially, but once we found the router, we turned it off & back on, and WiFi ready to go. WiFi signal is much better on ground floor rooms.
