“Da Baranin is a winner”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

It was a challenge on a very hot day to get our luggage up to Da Baranin from the train station, but when we opened the windows and stepped onto our balcony, we knew the trek had been worth it. Our reward was a memorable, fantastic view overlooking the town of Manarola and the Adriatic Sea. Our twin-bed room was comfortable and quiet, the bathroom had all the necessary amenities, the Wifi worked very well, and the mattresses were nicely firm. The facilities were up-to-date and clean. Normally, I don't like to spend much time in the room, but here, it was pure bliss just to sit on the balcony and drink in the atmosphere (along with some wine). The manager was friendly and accommodating, and her staff was equally pleasant. Breakfasts on the terrace were delightful. Trattoria dal Billy, an excellent restaurant, is an easy one-minute walk away, and the hostess helped us get a reservation our first night. Our stay at Da Baranin was a major factor in our enjoyment of the Cinque Terre.

Room Tip: We had a twin-bed room with sea view in a building across the way from the office, and we couldn'...

I can't say enough good things about this place. It was very peaceful. I got great sleep here. The breakfast is lovely- you get a ton of food which is nice since I squirreled away a couple of pastries/ pieces of fruit for the day which is helpful when the food is so expensive. The front desk lent me a map to go hiking, and were accomodating about the ATM not working and having to put my bill on the card. My suite was quite large and cooking in the kitchenette would have worked well had I decided to cook for myself. Overall a fantastic stay.
They will give you beach towels and also they lent me an American adaptor for my stay (thank god!) since I'd left my other one in my previous hotel :/

Note: the one confusing thing is that there is a hotel in Manarola with a similar name called "Da Barani". That one is the opposite way from the train station! I wish they would put better walking directions on the website for getting to Da Baranin but basically all you need to do is aim for the church and you're right there.

We loved our two night stay at Da Baranin. This quite, charming B&B was the perfect resting spot while adventuring through the Cinque Terre. Rooms were clean. Free bottled water was waiting for us upon arrival. Breakfast was spectacular - the best of our two weeks in Italy. It's a hike to get to the property, but what isn't a hike in Cinque Terre? We loved staying in Manarola, our favorite of the five towns. Fantastic restaurants and gorgeous scenery every where you turn. The staff was kind and helpful, meeting us quickly even though we arrived later than expected. Would gladly stay here again.

A last minute booking brought us to the Da Baranin for three nights. We had to spend a bit more than we'd have liked for their last available room - the superior room with balcony - but oh my, what a great room. Loads of space, clean, light, fabulous en-suite and a balcony with a romantic view over the rooftops and onto the sea.
We were greeted with a warm welcome and lots of tips for walking and we were kindly lent maps and guidebooks.
Breakfast was on a lovely terrace, very generous, plenty of home baking and always a delicious coffee. I really can't fault the place.

We drove to Manarola as part out our road trip. I had read loads about parking and was unsure what to expect. We were very lucky to get a free space on the road just opposite the pay car park. We then grabbed our bags and walked down to the B+B, takes about 5-10 minutes, downhill with some steps up at the end. The b+b is at the top end of the village. I read that you could ask the parking attendants to raise the barrier so you can drive further down through the residents parking to drop off bags, but tbh we're pretty active and didn't need to do that, the walk was fine, maybe consider it if you have a lot of luggage.

This is a great little b&b. We had 4 nights here and Sara, her sister and her staff were really helpful and friendly, recommending and booking restaurants, advising on walks and difficulty levels, and being unobtrusive. Our stay here helped us fall in love with Italy.
Fabulous breakfasts and bar snacks.
Note the room we had, which was on the level where breakfast is served, was perfectly adequate but a little cramped for 2 people's luggage and effects.

Just a short visit to one of the Cinque Terre towns and we decided to stay in Manarola.
This B&B served the best breakfast in all the 6 B&B we have staid in 3 weeks across France and Italy. That have standard continetal breafast things plus boiled eggs or on request fried eggs,
Great coffee and bed room setting. We wish we have time to stay a few more nights.
It would be a great place to be use as a base for a day hike and few more night sceneries.
Getting there by car was a bit tricky as the In Car GPS sent us to the dead end road with a lock gate.
Finding the B&B was tricky too as there is no clear ally sign but when ask the local will guide you.
Look for it on the first ally way on the left before you reach the Clock tower. If you reach the CLock turn left and walk up the ally way (Street LOL) you may easily miss it.

Room Tip: There is only a few double bed room so be early to book. We were luck to get a room on by booking 3...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Da Baranin. Although the initial trek uphill with our suitcases was a little strenuous, the rest of our 4-day stay was delightful. We didn’t mind the location almost at the top of Manarola: it meant great views from our little terrace and a quiet, non-touristy spot to relax. Our room was spacious with a large bedroom downstairs and a kitchen, sitting area and terrace with partial ocean view upstairs. The service was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and included eggs and yogurt which we appreciated. We enjoyed chatting with the other visitors on the terrace each morning. The trail to Corniglia was right outside our door, and a great restaurant, Trattoria dal Billy, is only a block away. We loved Manarola: it is small and pretty and relaxed. We had a great time and highly recommend Da Baranin to active folks who have come to hike the Cinque Terre trails.
