Stefano is a fantastic guy. He has so much passion and love for what he does, you don't feel like he is out to get your money; for him, it's all about providing the experience. My husband and I stumbled upon his boat by accident and it was the best money we have ever spent. It is a lot pricier than the crowded ferry boat, but this is an experience you should pay extra money for - it goes along way. Stefano takes you to all of the villages and gives you an in depth history on them as well! He is not watching his clock the whole time, but is strictly looking to provide you with the best tour of the lands that he loves. His boat is very nice, spacious and comfortable. He took pictures for us at every island, stopped at his favourite spots (caves, secluded beaches) and let's you jump into the water to swim a bit (he has life jackets for those of you like myself who can't swim). We paid €150 for an hour and a half (which turned into 2 hours and he didn't charge extra) and it was by far THE best money we have spent here. The Cinque Terre is one of the most beautiful places in the world that you will ever experience, so why not pay the money to experience it alone with your loved ones, on a great boat with a guy who loves where he lives and what he does!! Thank you for a once in a lifetime experience, Stefano!

As the coastal tracks are closed, the trains and ferries are rammed with tourists, making a private boat trip essential. We are a couple so you could consider it a bit expensive (€100/hour), but when you weigh the pros (own guide, not missing out on the photos, being able to sit on the best side of the boat and wherever you want, stops for swims wherever you want) and the cost its the right choice. We booked a two hour tour which was just enough time to see all five lands and a couple of quick swims (jump off the boat and climb the ladder to get back on). Stefano spoke good English and told us about the history and some of his favourite spots. His boat is beautiful and has shade if you want it, or you can sunbake. Stefano provides a bottle of white wine and foccacia.
This was our favourite part of our stay in the cinque terre and worth every euro. If there is more than two of you it obviously works out better (six people max). I can't recommend this trip enough.

My husband and I had the best time today on stephano boat. Highly recommended, not only do you see the beautiful five towns but Stephano explains the history and takes you to one off views. We loved every minute! Annie and Steve

What an amazing time we had with Stefano - he loves what he does and he does it so well! From the moment we were picked up to the moment he dropped us off we were captivated by his knowledge of the land he loves so much. He brings you around the five villages by boat and allows you to stop wherever you want. He pointed out wonderful restaurants along the way, took us to the waterfalls, little swimming beaches - very relaxing. He provides assistance getting on and off the boat from the water - what a gentleman! Wine and bread were delicious.

Sorry that I waited so long to write this review - going through my pictures now and it reminded me that I had wanted to do this when I returned but life got in the way!

Thank you again Stefano! When we return we will certainly look for you and do this again!

There were 3 of us on holiday in Monterosso for a week. I had heard of Matilde Navigazione so we decided to give them a try. We just walked down to the marina and spoke to Nico and our trip was booked for the following day. We enjoyed our 3 hour tour so much we extended by another hour. Nico supplied wine and delicious focaccia and was extremely knowledgeable regarding Cinque Terre and it's history. We stopped in a small grotto for a swim on the way back. We did the Cinque Terre by train and walk trails - but this was by far the best. Do yourself a favour and book a cruise with Nico or Stephano.
