This room is in the “new town” section of Monterosso al Mer, in an apartment/condo building mostly occupied by permanent residents. There are about 5 other rental rooms with a shared entry and reception. The room was very tidy and of average size. It is a very easy, flat, paved walk from the train station which was a huge plus, and only one short flight of stairs to entry into the building. There is no view, but I wouldn’t expect one for the value price. “Breakfast” is included, but it is just prepackaged rolls and instant coffee and tea left in your room. There is no internet access but the rooms are air-conditioned.
It was convenient for us, because we enjoyed being in a quiet neighborhood away from the activity of town, and we enjoy walking. It is only 10 minutes to walk to the Old Town where most of the shopping and restaurants are, though the New Town has restaurants completely lining the beachfront. The room does face toward the train tracks, but the noise was surprisingly negligible.
If we go back to Cinque Terre, we will probably choose to stay in Manarola, because it was more to our taste, but for anyone wanting to stay in Monterosso, I would recommend Arocbaleno as a great value choice. We did not find the bed to be uncomfortable like the previous reviewer mentions.
