One of the nicer hotels on our trip this year. Good sized room. All things worked including shower and WiFi. We had a nice balcony area to relax and enjoy view of the ocean. Staff very helpful, arranged to us to have an early breakfast so that we could hike the trails before it got too hot out. Great laundry service.

Room Tip: Go for the ocean view.

We didn't stay at the Villa Steno, we stayed in an apartment in town. The apartment is available by the night and is owned by Villa Steno. The two locations are about 4 minutes walking distance apart. Villa Steno is up on the hill side and has a commanding view.

The apartment is freshly remodeled, right in the heart of Monterosso on the second story of an ancient building.

The view from the window is of a bustling street scene and the thumping pulse of street life pumps into the room along with wonderful scents of flowers and food. The business activities subside substantially around 10 pm, so for us there was no trouble sleeping.

The apartment is nicely appointed with a bunch of thoughtful details like corkscrews, wine glasses and a small kitchen. The bathroom was clean and nice in a small package.

The hotel owner was entirely accessible and extremely helpful. We decided to spend additional time in this beautiful village and even though Villa Steno was booked, Matteo called a competitor, found us a nice room in a hotel on the beach AND let us leave our car parked in his lot. Parking is a big deal in the Cinque Terre and we really appreciated his hospitality and helpfulness.

Breakfast at Villa Steno is worth twice what they charge, don't be afraid to include it in your room price.

When we go back to Monterosso (it was that nice) we will definitely stay with the Villa Steno properties again.

Recently stayed in a sea view room at Hotel Villa Steno. The room was spacious and well appointed. Bathroom was a little cramped but functional. Great courtyard attached to the room with spectacular views to the sea. Great place to sit on a Sunday night and listen to the church bells. breakfast was excellent and the staff were all very helpful. Minor issues for me, no robes and the stairs. As the hotel is located high on the hill it is a fair walk up and down. If you take stairs there are about a hundred up to the hotel or a very steep hill and drive. Okay for the fit but unfortunately I was hit with a bug and found the climb a bit of a struggle.

We debated which Cinque Terre town to stay in and opted for Monterosso al Mare. Hotel Villa Steno was a perfect spot for us, a family with 3 kids, ages 12, 10 and 8. The breakfast was delicious, and plentiful, the espressos a great start to the day - all while sitting on a terrace overlooking the town and the sea. What a beautiful setting! We also had one of the largest rooms with a big terrace overlooking the water, and a separate sleeping spot for 2 of our kids. We drove in, so didn't have to deal with carrying bags up steps. for our daily walks into town and home, we loved walking through the lemon tree garden and through the streets to get to the beach. The rooms were extremely clean and the entire hotel smells like a lovely spa. the hosts were engaging, welcoming and helpful. the walk from Monterrosa to Vernazza had a tough beginning, but overall was perfect. 1 hr 39 minutes with kids. Highly recommend a stay in this hotel!

Room Tip: We had a great room for families - large and with a big terrace. Recommend if you are traveling wit...

We stayed four nights at Hotel Villa Steno and couldn`t have it better! Here you find friendly staff, good service, clean rooms, good beds and good breakfast. Our room had a balcony with a lovely view over the old town and the sea.
I hope to come back to Monterosso and I am not in doubt witch hotel I would choose!

I can't think of one single thing that this hotel could improve on! Yes, there are a lot of steps up to the hotel but that comes with the view. Rooms are well decorated and furnished, pay the extra for a sea view. Sitting on our balcony with a drink in hand looking out at the sea was the perfect way to finish our days. Breakfast is very good, sitting on the breakfast terrace is a must to start the day. Our hosts were friendly, obliging and willing to help with train times, tickets etc. Laundry service is provided and very reasonable. Much appreciated when you have been travelling for a few weeks. Wifi free and connection good. This is a family run hotel and Matteo and Carla really know how to make you feel welcome. Must try the home made lemon jam and lemon cake, yum. Do book early it would be a shame to miss out on this hotel if staying in Monterosso.

Room Tip: Balcony room with a sea view.

Matteo and his whole family and team at Hotel Steno made our Cinque Terre holiday a fantastic experience. The views of the beautiful sea from above the town are quintessential Italian Riviera
And having a drink on the terrace tops off every day. Breakfast is exactly as simple and lovely as it should be with camaraderie of fellow hikers and visitors. We thoroughly enjoyed Cinque Terre and
