We just got back from our trip to Italy! And our time spent at Villa Steno was so special. They were beyond kind. The rooms were pretty but my favorite of all was my balcony near the lemon trees overlooking the sea. And yes it is just that pretty. I even loved that the shortcut to the beach was a trek thru their lemon grove. From the welcoming drink to their thoughtfulness by bringing us coffee at 5 o'clock in the morning before catching our shuttle to the airport, they went beyond what they had to, to make us feel taken care of despite this busy time of year.
Thank you to you both and your staff!

P.S. Make sure you at least do one of the trails there. It is breathtaking!

Room Tip: Ask for a garden balcony room!

This is a wonderful place in a wonderful town in a wonderful area. The staff (especially Matteo) is warm, friendly and helpful (and you need a little help navigating the hikes/trains/boats). The hotel itself has lots of outdoor space, is comfortable, clean and very well situated.

Our family loved Villa Steno so much last year, my husband and I made a point of going back again this summer for our anniversary. Monterosso al Mare is a small beach town with a great vibe, and staying in Villa Steno allowed us to take full advantage of all that the Cinque Terre has to offer. The hotel is on a hillside and is just a short walk (3 or 4 minutes) from the old town, where there are many restaurants, small shops, a beach, ferry, and the start of the well-known hiking trail. The new town is about 10 minutes away, and it also offers several great restaurants, the train station, beaches and shops. Hotel Villa Steno is designed with the comfort of its guests in mind. Rooms are large with closet space and room for luggage. Each room apparently has a balcony, deck or garden area with a view of the town and the Mediterranean. Our room had a door to the outside, with a path leading to a patio with a table and four chairs. We relaxed with our friends on the patio, enjoying the lemon trees and surrounding terraced garden. Perfect for a glass of wine, some cheese, etc. Hotel owners, Matteo and Carla, are very welcoming and helpful. They remembered us from our previous visit, and were very appreciative of our decision to return to Villa Steno. Guests are welcomed with a glass of local wine or Prosecco, breakfasts (included) are delicious (cappuccinos, espressos and other coffee drinks are expertly made to order), and the homemade preserves are addictive. The same-day laundry service is very helpful, especially after hiking and swimming. I highly recommend Hotel Villa Steno, and I'm trying to figure out how we can manage a return visit in the not-too-distant future!

I'll keep this review short: Hotel Villa Steno is a great home base for staying in Monterosso. The staff speaks good English and is helpful. Most of the rooms have verandas with views of the city and Mediterranean, and the hotel also has an outdoor courtyard on the hill above the hotel - a perfect place to take a glass of white wine and spend an hour before dinner simply soaking in the beauty of the hills. The rooms were clean, large enough, and with good air conditioning ... something you may want after a day at the beach or hiking or village-hopping.

The only warning is this: The hotel is up the hillside away from the water. If you take the train to Monterosso, you will end up walking from the "new town" all the way past the beach, through the tunnel, through town, and up several dozen stairs ... if you are carrying luggage, this can be a significant workout. If that isn't something you want to do, be warned.

Room Tip: Room numbers 1-6 have better access to the lower level entrance/exit.

Thank you to Matteo and Carla you made our experience so much better, your service is impeccable. This hotel is superb, beautiful rooms, the view is amazing, great breakfast.
It is on a bit of hill and few fair chairs up and and down to the town, but it just made hotel give it's lovely character! And just loved all the lemon tree's around the hotel.
I would not look around for another hotels than Villa Steno, we only stayed for 2 nights, definitely wish we would have stayed longer.
Cinque Terre is just beautiful and Monterosso is the town to stay in you also want to have beach access
And oh yes parking is allowed and free just email ahead of time
Thanks again

Room Tip: Any room as all have Balconies with a view

This is a great place to stay for a visit to Cinque Terre, Matteo and his staff make you feel right at home and couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. We stayed here in late June and the weather was perfect for hiking the trails. The views are stunning and the location is perfect though there are a lot of stairs down to the main part of Monterosso it is very manageable. Matteo was very helpful with train and ferry information and the breakfast was outstanding. I highly recommend Hotel Steno for your stay in this region and I would defiantly stay here again.

This nice little hotel is set on the hillside 200-250 yards from the beach; this was a positive to us since it kept the July crowds at bay. One convenience is that parking is allowed. It is a tiny parking lot, but the owner moves the cars around to get maximum usage. (The road to get here is a 30 minute drive from the A1 on small winding roads. Be prepared if you do not like this type of driving or these types of views.) The hotel is clean on the inside and outside, something many of the hotels in the Cinque Terre cannot say ( even my boys commented that many needed a coat of paint ). The rooms are average size and nicely decorated. A large breakfast is included as well as a welcome glass of wine. The view over the town toward the sea is stunning. The owner is knowledgeable with helpful advice on places to dine and trails to hike.
