A great place to stay in Monterossa. Very handy to the railway station (5-6min level walk) and the beach just 50m away.
The hotel is not a Hyatt, Hilton type hotel and does not set out to be one. It is a typical Italian/European hotel with clean comfortable rooms. The hotel management and staff are very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast has a good selection which should suit most tastes.
There are lots of cafes/restaurants nearby and even more in the old town which is about a 20min walk along the waterfront.
The hotel is set back from the road. The front area is a stoned courtyard set out with tables and chairs. A nice place to relax and have a wine - together with a good selection of complimentary nibbles!
I our view Monterossa is the pick of the villages to stay in as it has the best selection of restaurants and shopping and a big plus it is basically flat which make getting around easy. The other villages are smaller and have quite steep streets. We were very happy that our travel agent booked us into Hotel Palme and would love to go back and spend more time there.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are cooler as they do not get direct sun. While it wasn't a problem when we were there the front rooms could be noisy if a large group was using the garden.

This Hotel is a great place to stay in Monterossa al Mare .... It's in the newer part of town, but you can drag your bags from the railway station (easiest way to get there). It is about 50meters from the beach and many great cafes and restaurants, and only a short walk through the tunnel to the old town, the magnificent church and the start of the walk to Vernazza.
The hotel provides a fantastic buffet breakfast and really friendly cocktail bar in the foyer - very nice to relax (catch up on emails with free wifi) and mingle with other guests.
The only odd thing was a fridge was in our room, but were told any alcohol in the fridge would be confiscated .... Really minor issue tho.
I have recommended a couple of people stay there and would definitely stay there again myself - great value.
We stayed in June 2013 (bit tardy with the review!)

I chose to stay at Monterosso during my 2-day visit at the Cinque Terre out of last-minute decision, and I was pleased that it worked out quite well.
I arrived at Monterosso in a night train, but the hotel was only short (and flat) walk away from the train station. The hotel has an elevator which is a plus for those carrying luggages.
The room was clean, tidy, and has many international channels (including Bloomberg TV) that made me almost feel at home.
I departed the hotel very early in the morning to catch the 6:50am train to Milan, and the hotel packed a small breakfast to-go. It was a nice thing for them to do for someone who's often on the road. Overall I'd recommend this hotel for travelers to the Cinque Terre.

Hotel Palme was such a great place to stay for my weekend in Cinque Terre. It was very affordable from a student standpoint, but would be a nice place for any family to stay as well. The staff were kind and inviting, and the place was clean, comfortable and accomodating. It's a 5 minute walk from both the train station and the beach, and there are tons of little shops and restaurants around to help you enjoy your time in Monterrosso al Mare. The breakfast was great too! I'd definitely recommend this place.

We stayed here with three other couples on our visit in June 2014. The hotel was very clean with well appointed somewhat spacious, for Italian standards, rooms. Ours did not have a water view, but did have a nice patio outside the door. My only complaint was that the air conditioning couldn't keep up with the heat of the day. The breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from in all categories. Bar service in the lobby was excellent, and the bartender made a very good martini.
