“great location & friendly service”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

This is the second time i have stayed at this hotel & has been updated since flood in 2011. Great to see the same friendly, helpful & courteous service continues. Very clean and spacious rooms. Delicous breakfasts. Excellent location to explore the Cinque Terre.

We stayed in the Hotel Margherita for two nights recently. We were very happy with our choice. the hotel is close to the centre of town but not too close to the railway( therefore nice and quiet!) and there are not lots of stairs or steep streets to climb to get there. The staff were all helpful and attentive- although there is no one overnight on duty. We were able to access all the parts of the cinque Terre from Monterosso with ease , and we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

We stayed at the hotel only for one night in a standard room. Albeit on the smaller side room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet offered really good selection and the coffee is one of the best we have had durung our 3 weeks in Italy.
The hotel is perfectly situated if you drive in by car. We found parking easily nearby. Would stay again, however would consider upgrade to a larger room if staying for a longer period.

Stayed 4 nights here. Central location was excellent, but could not turn around in room. Huge balcony was lovely. The bed was very hard, resulting in backache! Also, wifi spotty and annoying. Vanessa at front desk very helpful as was breakfast lady and young gentleman who carried our bags upstairs, but other front desk lady not very helpful at all. I don't think I would recommend hotel, but Monterosso is amazing! Breakfast was quite good and plentiful.

Had a superior room on the top floor. Open up the french doors onto a balcony which end overlooked the town. The room was large and spacious with good fittings throughout. The shower was excellent and as a tall person it was great to be able to lift the shower nozzle above my chest. My shower rating was 8/10.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and there was a good variety across the buffet before doing the Cinque Terra walk.

Excellent modern clean hotel well placed for visiting Monterosso and the entire Cinque Terre. Our room was a good size and the en-suite was also fine. Breakfast was better than at most hotels during our Italian trip. The hotel has been completely renovated following the 2011 floods. The only slight criticism is that walls may be rather thin as we had some noise from an adjacent room. We tried to be very quiet when we left for an early train.

It is in the "main part" of the town so you have to walk from the station along the seafront, through the tunnel connecting the two parts and up Via Roma to the hotel. It's not far but it was torrential when we did it!

Lots of different types of places to eat with some good restaurants near the hotel itself incl L'Altamarea which is also favoured by local people.

Room Tip: Through Booking.com, we asked if we could have a balcony as the two types of rooms were not separate...

We stayed at Hotel Margherita for 4 nights in April 2013 and loved every minute of our time there.

The hotel is located in the old town of Monterosso and serves as a wonderful home base for exploring the Cinque Terre. It is a short and relatively easy walk from the train station and is close to Trail No. 2 to Vernazza. There are also plenty of restaurants and wine/artisan shops in the area for your pleasure.

We reserved a comfort room for our stay. It was large, modern, comfortable and clean. We greatly enjoyed sipping wine on our balcony in the evenings before dinner. The mini-fridge in the room also came in handy.

We also appreciated the complimentary continental breakfast and wifi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony!
