This hotel is hidden in the quiet part of town away from all the tourist & car traffic and set up on a bit of a hill, as is everything in Cinque Terre. In amongst nice gardens is a cool pool & a nice courtyard with a few tables & chairs.
The room we had was on 3rd floor and had a balcony from which you could catch the sea view & shutters to roll down to block out the sun or light at night. Room was quite large and bed firm but OK. Bathroom was small & shower space tiny, big letdown was the sachets of shampoo = bring your own!!
Interesting option was the half board which includes breakfast & dinner. We had a group so that was on each night, they all loved the salad bar and the fresh fruit, rest of the meal was a bit hit and miss, but at €15 you can't go far wrong. Found breakfast each day to be excellent with FRESH and I mean fresh bread plus plenty of other selections of cereals, yoghurt, fruit & hard boiled eggs - no American breakfast in this part of the world.
Staff were all excellent both at reception and breakfast/dinner and extremely efficient
Big advantage was proximity to railway station and 2min to the beach, where there was part paid & part free. All in all a great place to base yourself for doing the Cinque Terre.

This is a great place to stay in Monterosso, it is in a very quiet area, having stayed in the old town previously (which is beautiful) but you had the sounds of trains coming through your room all night. Villa Adriana is the place to stay if you want peace and quiet, impeccably clean rooms, a beautiful garden, a great pool and delightful staff. They offer a wonderful reasonably priced meal every night which had the best salad bar ever. I can highly recommend Villa Adriana.

Looking recently refurbished and kept immaculately clean we spent a very pleasant 4 nights here. Furnishings are basic but not cheap. Very comfortable firm bed and nice crisp sheets. Most of the towels were new appearing, white and plush with the name of the hotel. Wall mounted liquid soap/ shampoo dispenser.....bring your own soap bar / conditioner. Decent size safe (not laptop size/ no outlet). Good quiet AC wired so windows must be shut....but the sound of the waves in the distance was lovely too and it was relatively quiet. Wi Fi pretty good and included. While there was a 2 prong outlet in the first bathroom I had to borrow a 3 prong adapter when we moved to the second.

There are 2 buildings and most rooms have a small balcony although a couple have wrap around terraces. Most rooms do not have much of a view but we were VERY fortunate to have #34 for the first 3 nights, THE room with a relatively private small balcony, bathroom with a window and THE view. Note this was just luck (or were we so charming?) and, I believe, the price is the same regardless of the view or if there is a balcony/ view. The rate is relatively high but considering what options are locally you do get quality for your euro.

Nice clean but cold pool with 8 or 10 loungers, some on a separate level, get full sun 1/2 day. Pool towels at reception (you can take them to beach). Discount card upon request for one of the beach clubs and 95% of the beach is set up so you pay.

At 15e for 4 course dinner (salad station with a hot hors d'oeuvre or two, a choice of one of 3 first course and one of 3 mains (fish, meat or cheese dish) and dessert or fruit was an amazing bargain. Other than having to stand on line for the 1st course, the service was superb. Every dish tasty and lovingly prepared. With house wine 10 e and others not much more, cocktail/ martini at 2.50 e we dined here nightly and thoroughly satisfied. You can't get a main in a 5 Terra restaurant for less than 12 e but of course you do get to sit in a romantic piazza or by the sea.

Breakfast was fair with some fresh fruit and home baked goods....don't come expecting a full American breakfast.

Surprisingly, there is a little chapel between the 2 buildings with mass at 8 AM for those inclined.

Groups do stay here but weren't an issue.

Reception, Simonetta in particular, were great and very responsive to every email.

Oh..and that driveway is NOT that steep. Considering all the hills in the 5 towns and that most come to hike here anyway what's the big deal???

And did I comment about how clean this place is?

It is difficult to find a good place in chinque terre that is comfortable and well located. However I recommend Villa Adriana. The room was clean, have balcony(no ocean view) regular breakfast, and free parking. The staff was nice and ready always to help you. The hotel is 5 min walking distance from the old town of Monterroso. You need to claim a little hill before getting to the lobby. Not to bad if you have light bags. There is a cleaner close to hotel and they bring your clothes back to the hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Adriana for 3 nights in September. My husband and I went to this resort for our 30th wedding anniversary. Through Tripadvisor, we found that Monterosso was one of the best towns to stay at in Cinque Terre. The reviews were correct!!!!! We went to each town and we loved Monterosso the best, so it was nice to make Villa Adriana our home base. It is 5 minutes from the train station. The hotel is like a little villa. The only problem is the steep hill to get to reception when you have luggage, but a good work out when you are eating within the town. They gave us a nice room with a beautiful room when I told them about our anniversary. The room was big and clean. Bathroom was large and clean. Breakfast was included and a had a decent amount of food. The staff was very friendly, helpful and informative. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when I return to Cinque Tere.

The most overpriced hotel ever. The "suite" for 2 adults and one teenager was extremely small. Shower so small that lifting arms to wash hair was very difficult.
Doors could not open to bedroom fully so that trying to get from the bed to the bathroom was painful.
Breakfast was barely OK compared to so many others we enjoyed.
The area is worth a day trip, don't bother staying overnight.
Hotel was over $400 a night and just not worth it, at all!!! Actually, compared to all other hotels it was very overpriced.
Foolishly we chose it because we figured it would be nice as it was so expensive.
Three day stay, sheets and towels were never changed, glassware never removed or cleaned, no shampoo or soap unless you ask, I mean I thought I was at an airport hotel in the 1960's!

Room Tip: There were none!

We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon recently (July/Aug) an it wasn't to bad at all. Very close to shops and beach and eatery's. Not located too far from the train station. but we were glad we had suitcases with wheels due to all the pushing. Rooms very very large and ours had a very nice balcony overlooking the beach and coastline. Room was very clean ans bathroom was more than adequate.
Only complaint was that there was no fridge inside the room to keep drinks cool, and boy did we need it as the temp out side was extremely hoy in mid summer. We had to ask for ice from the bar and collect it ourselves but breakfast was delicious. Great selection and nice dining room.
We went on a few day trips via boat and train......and had an absolute ball.!!! Lovely swimming and coastline, great food, wine and wineries which were well worth the walk to.
Overall a great little place and probably one of our favourite location for the entire honeymoon..
