We arrived at the restaurant and we were told to wait while table was prepared. Very bossy waitress and poor customer service. Table ware was tussled around and waitress was rude and spoke constantly under her breathe. Very funny for us to see this behavior which would not be tolerated in Australia .
Customer service was terrible and extremely rude.

We enjoyed dinner at La Lanterna during our first night in Cinque Terre. We were grateful to have had a reservation as the restaurant is quite small and packed full of people. The food was good but certainly not the best value. I would recommend dining here at lunchtime if it is available.

This restaurant with its little patio are located down by the water so it has a lovely view but even better the food was fantastic! We were not brave enough or confident enough in our Italian to order much off the menu but our neighbouring table looked like they were enjoying a huge platter of fresh seafood. We did share an order of insalata caprese plus an order of gnocchi swimming in amazing pesto sauce. Delicious! Would definitely return to sample some of the incredible seafood!

We stayed in Riomaggiore for 5 nights and 3 of the nights we had dinner at La Lanterna! It was a 2 minute walk for our B&B, Alla Marina, which we also highly recommend!
The mussel appetizer dish is delicious! We shared it 3 times.
Reservations are recommended!
Ask for a table on the patio, you will have a wonderful view of the harbour!.

To Tripadvisor: in our invoice the address was "via san giacomo 46"

This is a small trattoria right at the harbor of Riomaggiore. There is another restaurant even with a better terrace (better view, larger space), but we chose this one due to some reviews we found in the net. The prices are similar to other Riomaggiore trattorias. Location is good, and if you get a spot on the small terrace, you might get a nice view. Not all of the terrace has good view on the sea.

The food is good, and the house white wine too. I had green gnocchi with mussels. Very satisfying. The service was efficient, however not overly pleasant. The staff seemed stressed, and not very friendly. We were a family with a toddler, and there was no issues. Later on we explored further uptown, and surely close to the harbor the feel and restaurants are better. Worth a try.
