Having spent a few days in Riomaggiore with my girlfriend we've come to the conclusion that this restaurant is probably the only place in town where a hint of the real Italy remains. As opposed to the places down the main street that charge you €12 for dry and mediocre pasta this place offers fresh, well made food for a fair price. Not only that; it's also bloody well made. You can choose from local specialities which by Italian standards are quite imaginative (white truffle sauce and seafood, anyone?). The seafood we had were so fresh that you could taste that they'd been fished only that morning.
The locale itself doesn't look like anything special, but don't be fooled. This restaurant doesn't need fancy decorations to establish itself as top dog in Riomaggiore. The pleasant waiters and wonderful food speaks for itself. So, the next time you visit Cinque Terre, do yourself a favour and walk up to the top of town to visit Ripa del Sole. After all; life is too short to eat and drink badly.
