“No better location for the Cinque Terre and good value for money!”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

I can't think of a better location than this place. It is minutes (100m) from the train station with no stairs to get there and close to the tourist office and Internet spot: good public WiFi down the street for 5 euros a day. The price of the room is reasonable for Cinque Terre standards as we got a double room for 75 euros.
You do not want to stay in the business side of town where the restaurants are and where travellers are awakened early by street noise: you just need to walk back from the restaurants in 5 mn.
There is absolutely everything you need in this place and it is not by chance, as Ilda worked for years in an upscale Bed and Breakfast in Manarola and she knows what it takes to make her guests happy, including air conditioning and international channels on the TV set. The room is quiet, spotless, comfortable, well heated (in April) and on arrival we were treated with white Pinot wine and lovely biscuits.
This is not a bed and breakfast but there is complimentary packaged croissants, milk, orange juice, yoghurt, all sorts of teas, jam, butter and bottled water in the small fridge. The espresso coffee machine in the room is fantastic.
The bed is very comfortable with extra pillows and blankets and while the bathroom is small the water pressure and water temperature make for a great shower.
Gianni, the owner is very friendly; he even drove us back to the car park when we checked out in the rain with all our bags.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the terrace (number 1) or for room number 3 (larger than room number 2).

Affitacamere Ilda was our little nook in the fantasy world that is Riomaggiore. The room was adorable, cleaned every day and located just up the hill from the train station. Gianni is a wonderful host who tends to the rooms with great care and is intent on making your stay a completely happy one. The rooms are part of a building that also houses year-round residents, so no, it's not a "hotel" but a very special place where visitors feel welcome and part of the community, as well.
And I'm so glad we chose staying in the town of Riomaggiore over the more touristy Vernazza and Monterosso. It was our quiet side of paradise.

We were expecting to have the room in a small hotel but it was actually in a sort of private flat in a residencial building. However the room was big, very nice with a nice bathroom and a quality design and decoration.

Breakfast is all packed in the room so it's nothing fresh like bread or croissant, this was a bit disappointed for the price but knowing that it's so touristy, this the price to pay i'm afraid.

Gianni was very nice and welcoming. We loved it at the end, it's very close to the train station (1mn) so perfect for planning your arrival/departure.

The bed was excellent and we slept really well.

Affittacamere Ilda

We stayed here for two nights in early September while exploring the Cinque Terre. Gianni met us at the train station, is very friendly and was a great help the two nights we stayed. He lives in one of the neighbouring towns (can’t remember which) and is quick to respond to his emails if you have questions.

We chose this apartment based on the TA reviews, location and price. As mentioned the room is only a short walk uphill (~75m) from the train station and outside of the main part of Riomaggiore. It is only a few minutes walk through the tunnel to the main town. We had considered staying in La Spezia while exploring the Cinque Terre but glad we didn’t. It was nice having a short train / ferry ride back to our room after two hot days. We preferred this area just outside the main town as well.

The room itself is small, clean comes with a small fridge and had a view of the courtyard. The shower and bathroom are also small but not uncomfortable and the room was cleaned daily. Breakfast consisted of packaged pastries and a rather confusing in room coffee machine. The building was quiet and safe. We would gladly stay here again. The only disappointment was no wifi.

We were so sad to leave Riomaggiore and our beautiful room. We had the best time!! Ilda and Gianna could not have been better hosts. Our rooms were spotless, comfortable and we were treated daily with champagne or lovely biscuits. Our fridge was stocked with complimentary things like cheese, yoghurt, fresh milk, juice and water. The coffee machines in each room were also a treated. The bathroom was the best of our travels. The room is literally 100 metres from the train station with no stairs to get there. We will be back and will be booking the same room! Ilda even left us with a beautiful lemon soap from
Cinque Terre. I forgot to mention, we borrowed the hiking sticks available from the room and they were invaluable!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in July and thought it was fine. It is very close to the train station and is great value for your money. Our room was very clean and nice and the bathroom was big. If you don't mind simple and want a good value I would recommend this place.

I booked this B&B for two nights based on the TA reviews. However after staying there, I have to wonder if it is the same place.
The entrance to the building is dark with an unpleasant dank smell. Our room, while spotlessly clean, was very small. We didn't have the room with the terrace, but that was fine. Looking out, our only view was of the courtyard. It was full of tools, paint and generally a mess. I would think they would tidy it up so we had some sort of outlook. However my biggest disappointment was the bathroom. We were not supplied with towling but with pique cotton sheeting. I have never stayed in a place where we get baby sheets as towels. It was very difficult to get dry. Worst of all was the shower cubicle. It was so small, we had to shower with the door open, and we are not huge people. No way a large person would fit in there.m

We were asked for the money in cash after the first night, and no receipt was offered. I had to ask for it.

The packeted breakfast was disappointing. I saw at least two bakeries with fresh goods. Surely we could have been offered something fresh, after all it is meant to be a bed and breakfast! For all this We paid 80euros a night.

Cannot recommend.
