This is a fantastic apartment for exploring the stunning Cinque Terre. We chose to stay in this particular location given it runs first from La Spezia and is very picturesque yet not as touristy as Vernazza. Having decided on the location we picked this apartment based on the reviews and it was a real delight from the get go.

In this family-run business, Sandro and his brother Andrea do not fail to ensure you are completely comfortable and have all you need to enjoy your stay. We were met at the train station and helped to our room by Andrea which was a great help in getting to the beauty that awaited us.

We were a family of three and therefore had three beds in a very comfortable and modern room and a great bathroom. Looking out the window were coloured boats and the sea to our left - amazing. The breakfast spread and drinks in the fridge was just fantastic at no added cost.

One of the best restaurants in the region was just below the apartment and is a must in your stay. We actually had lunch here twice in a row. Try the pasta with seafood and the pesto pasta, my stomach is grumbling just thinking about it.

After our stay Sandro and Andrea once again helped us to the train station, superb service, met simply with "we must, you are our guests (ospeti).

Only one thing wrong - given our time limitations we could only stay one night!

We highly recommend this place for your stay in Cinque Terre.

Thank you again to Sandro, Andrea (and your mum!) for making our time there very special.

Loved Cinque terre.... The Alla Marina in Riomaggiore was lovely. The owner of the hotel met us at the train station and carried our heavy bag to the hotel. The room although in a centuries old building was brand new and spotless...We were right at the marina so we woke up the next morning listening to the waves..lovely. Sandro was helpful in suggesting an agenda for us as we only had the day and night. We took the train to Vernazza and Manarola. Both beautiful towns . Then we spent the evening in Riomaggiore walking around the very steep town and had a delicious supper there also. Sandro provided a simple breakfast in the room which was fine and free wifi...and a fridge full of cold drinks free.He walked us to the train in the morning to help carry our bags .A wonderful young man. This is a very comfortable and clean hotel to stay in, but also just a unique spot. We enjoyed our hotel stay very much and would love to come here again

After catching 3 trains from Florence, we arrived in beautiful Riomaggiore. Alla Marina owners, Sandro and his brother Andrea, were waiting for us on the platform and carried all our luggage through the tunnel, up and down numerous stairs, and through the narrow steets to the hotel. Even though the building was built centuries ago, the hotel rooms have been completely updated with every amenity. Even without the updates, this place is paradise. We had a large bedroom with window opening out onto the ocean and a separate sitting room with another large window, sofa, and dining table/desk. The bath has heated towel racks and another large window opening onto the garden and courtyard below. Sandro had provided everything we needed for breakfast, but there are lovely mama-and-papa markets and bodegas just around the corner with local fresh produce, homemade Ligurian pesto, freshly-made focaccia, and delicious wines grown and produced in the village. Perfect picnic stops and fantastic restaurants are only steps away from the hotel.....be sure to try a "cone" of local seafood from one of the take-out places while you're in Riomaggiore. Sandro speaks excellent English and is happy to make restaurant recommendations and reservations or give info on train, bus, or ferry travel to the other villages of the Cinque Terre. Riomaggiore is the perfect place to relax and travel back in time (on foot, of course!), and the Alla Marina Hotel is the perfect place call home while you are there. Thank you for all your hospitality, Sandro and Andrea....we can't wait to come visit again!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for an ocean-view room

Such an excellent position overlooking the small harbour in Riomaggiore, our host Sandro, his brother Andrea and Annette looked after us. Andrea met us at the station and helped with our bags and we were shown the quickest way to the apartment. Riomaggiore has lots of steps and stairs and without Andrea we probably would not have found Alla Marina which has been fully renovated. Our room was spotless, breakfast was provided with cereals, milk, tea, coffee croissants etc. We had air conditioning, wifi, fridge and modern bathroom, comfortable beds and a beautiful view. Sandro made sure we had everything we needed and Annette helped us with train timetables etc. There are 4 other towns along the Cinque Terre to explore and getting there was easy as you can catch the train or the ferry, we caught the train to Monterosso then caught the ferry back which stops at each town. We loved Riomaggiore and wished we had stayed a lot longer, there are lots of places to eat and the atmosphere was great. I would recommend Alla Marina for anyone who is going to Riomaggiore.

What a wonderful experience! Sandro was the perfect host. From the time he met us to park our car until the day he escorted us to alternate accomodation, which he so kindly found due to our miscalculation of dates. He helped with our luggage both times and then organised someone to take it back to our car even though we were not in his accomodation. Both Sandro & Andrea provide the most excellent personal service. The accomodation was faultless with the location, presentation and facilities it provided. Beautiful views, beautiful village and wonderful people. A little birdie told us that Sandro will be marrying this October. Best wishes of good health & happiness always. May you find wonderful accomodation like yours for your honeymoon. Gods blessings and thank you for providing us with lifetime memories.

We were a party of 2 couples and Sandro put us in the upper unit with killer sea views and spacious deck from which to enjoy it. Location cannot be better. A shortcut staircase leads right to the train station & water's edge restaurants. Sandro is a sincere innkeeper & genuinely wants his guests to enjoy his apartment and village. Through a complicated process, we had double-booked places in Riomaggiore and Sandro personally brokered a very fair deal with the other innkeeper, for which we were grateful.
