“Comfort and relaxing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2012

The hotel is nice and clean. It is located a few kilometers up the mountain which you need a private car to get there. Our room had a great view and nice (but little bit old) balcony.
Had a nice breakfast. It has a good value for the price we paid, we stayed for 1 night before visiting Manarola vilage.

Room Tip: Choose a room in front of clif!

We were so happy we chose this place just at the start of the road to Cinque Terre. After a long drive from Siena, we were happy to stop and even happier after we got our room and sat on the terrace watching the stars and listening to the ocean. It was simple to find and park and we enjoyed our street level room ( a simple e-mail asking, as someone here suggested ). As we drove into Cinque Terre, we saw many others dragging their luggage through the villages to their cars, so we appreciated Due Gemelli's convenient location even more! The breakfast was simple, but adequate, and in a room with beautiful view. Our room was simple, but perfectly clean with a nice shower and big, fluffy towels.

Room Tip: Ask for a street level room if you don't want to carry luggage up and down stairs.

Friendly and homely in feel. People on staff are only too happy to suggest places to visit (listen carefully) because the advise is good. Dinner meals are good and reasonably priced and the rooms are clean, yes somewhat small but with a vista that surpasses most you won't be spending much time hanging about in your room; even though you have a 180degree view of the Mediterranean sea. It's quiet even though on a main road and the serenity is there for the taking. Just minutes away from Riomaggiore... If you enjoy your privacy and space a much nicer place to stay than in the villages of Cinque Terre. Must see: Porto Venere, 20 mins drive.

We stayed here for one night in late April and enjoyed our brief stay. Not one word of english was spoke by the owners but that was all good, we managed to communicate on a basic level and enjoyed it. Room was clean and spacious and staff friendly, we had a huge ocean view balcony. Parking was free and plentiful and the hotel is nice and handy to Manarola and Riomaggiore if you want to do the walk of love by the sea. Food was average, not our kind of meals. Would stay here again if visiting Cinque Terre

The only drawback to this hotel is the location if you do not drive a car. If you do, there is plenty of parking at the hotel. There are no taxis in the cinque Terre, so you must rely upon the public transport bus which only runs up to Due Gemelli a few times a day. We did not know this before we arrived our first day and ended up waiting two hours with our bags until 18:30 when we were picked up by the green bus near the Riomaggiore train stop. (It usually stops near the store "5 Coop"). We merely picked up some delicious pizza slices and had a drink overlooking the water.

Our room had a great water front view, was clean and comfortable, and a nice refuge from tourists. The free wi-fi worked well. The family was warm and friendly; they tried hard to speak English and help with anything we needed. We ate dinner there both nights of our stay and enjoyed delicious food at a great value. The complimentary breakfast was also impressive with yogurt, croissants, juice, and caffe. For two nights, two breakfasts, and two dinners, we only paid 220 euros. Amazing!

If you're after 4 or 5 star luxury go elsewhere.
If you're interested in good clean comfortable accommodation with some added bonuses then this could be the place for you.
We stayed for two nights and that's all you need to see Cinque Terra. One full day on the train and walking is all you need to see the 5 villages. And on the day of your arrival or departure pop around to see PortoVenere, as we were advised to do on our welcome at Due Gemelli.
The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The view from the balcony was outstanding, and the food was very good and both food and drinks very reasonable priced.
The room and bed was clean and comfortable. we were in off season so on the top floor on the same level as the car park, so not a problem, but I note others concerns that if you were on one of the lower floors carting the luggage would have been an issue. But for a night or two just leave your luggage in the car and take down an overnight bag.
As others have said, if you don't have a car, stay somewhere else. It's not a walk to anywhere unless you're a mountain goat.

Room Tip: ask for top floor room if available

We've been at the Hotel 2 Gemelli with my wife this last week-end for our wedding anniversary.
The hotel is very well located if you wanna spend 2 days in the 5 Terre area : at the very far south end of the National Park you can reach easly Riomaggiore and from there start your trip through the wonderful area.
Only hic is it's probably too old and rooms shall be definitely sound-proofed for you can hear everything going on around you. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're looking for a quiet place where you can rest and stay at bed late in the morning.
Otherwise, owners are very kind and helpful in advising you on your trips through the area.
