“Felt right at home!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We just returned from 2 weeks in Italy, ending our stay in Riomaggiore. The day before leaving for our trip we realized we'd booked a place in the wrong town & frantically began the search for something else. We are so glad we found this place! Everyone was gracious, kind, friendly & helpful. Breakfast was delightful & a wonderful way to meet fellow travelers from all over the world. The apartment we had was clean & neat with everything we needed. Listen to David when he tells you where to hike (since main trails are often closed in areas)! And be sure to take the blue bus from the downtown bank to avoid a lot of stairs (be sure to wave to get the driver's attention). They'll even send your luggage up & down by trolley. I truly felt at home there & want to return someday.

Room Tip: The apartment has shallow stairs to the bedroom, a bit tough on compromised knees.

We stayed at the Cinqueterre Residence in early May. We had an amazing stay and thoroughly enjoyed both the hotel and the town of Riomaggiore.

The hotel is located near the top of the main street. It is a relatively short walk but it is straight up hill, so if you have heavy bags (as we did) you might want to take the bus that runs from the foot of the main street (follow the tunnel away from the train station). It's 2 Euro per person. Don't feel bad -- you'll be doing lots of walking in Cinque Terre.

The location of the hotel is amazing as it gives you wonderful views of the village and of the surrounding hills. Our room had two terraces (back and front) which meant we had different views to choose from and all-day sun if we wanted it.

Our room was modern, updated, and comfortable. The bathroom and main room were very spacious. Wi-Fi was free and easy to connect to.

The breakfast buffet that was included was simple but tasty. It was really nice not to have to venture too far to get some food to start your day. It was a very nice touch. There is no on-site restaurant for lunch or dinner but the staff will be happy to recommend places and book reservations if you wish.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We really could not have asked for more. We would highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed for nearly a week and are so glad we picked this place. Really amazing and everyone who works there are so helpful and great to talk to! I will warn you, there are a lot of stairs to climb to get there but the view is over 100% worth it! We'd stay there again! There's so much to do in Cinque Terre and their neighboring towns, and we recommend staying here if you decide to go! Absolutely stunning view, great location, great staff, just all around the place to stay.

We had a suberb stay at this nice hotel. It is located in the upper part of Riomaggiore with a beautiful view over the sea.The walk from the railway station is uphill on cobblestone streets with uneven surface. Read the information about how to find the hotel carefully, the street is easy to miss. The hotel manager was very informative, she gave us insider tips about which walks to make. Our room was clean, large and had a fully equipped kitchenette. Even though we not booked a stay which included breakfast, the manager offered us breakfast the first morning as we hadn't had time to go shopping. It really felt like the staff was looking after us and was trying to make our stay special! The bathroom was recently refurbished. There are a few small supermarkets in Riomaggiore and it was nice to be able to do a bit of cooking. In front of the hotel, there is a patio with tables for warm days. We really enjoyed our stay here. The village of Riomaggiore is beautiful at all times, but perhaps most beautiful at sunset.

My wife and I stayed here over the summer for a week and I have to say the Cinque Terre is now by far our favourite part of Italy and is currently not too touristy, compared with some parts (long may it last!). This fairly undiscovered by most Brits gem of a village is so beautiful and this boutique residence is the perfect place to stay if you like sitting out on your own terrace and looking up at the shooting stars, while sipping limoncellos until the wee small hours - It has style, flair and with great hospitality from Carla who makes sure everything is as perfect as it can be, who could ask for more. I shall definitely return to Riomaggiore one day.

Through a series of unplanned but fortunate circumstances we booked our final week in Italy this past August at this wonderful family run hotel. We've traveled extensively and generally found most reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt but not in this case. We chose this specific hotel at the very last minute based almost completely on the reviews of our fellow Trip Advisors.

Everything we read about Davide and everyone at this wonderful residence we found to be completely accurate and true. The hotel is very well run, comfortable, warm and spotless. All the staff were friendly and very helpful when asked but not intrusive when we desired privacy. They really made us feel we were welcome here.

All the reviews point out the obvious about this region, the constant climbing up and down for example and they are all correct. Please don't choose this region unless you are physically able to climb a lot of stairs and do a lot of walking! Having said that, we loved this aspect of the entire Cinque Terre region. The people here, the food and the absolutely stunning scenery made for a once in a lifetime experience for my partner and I and we would return here in a heartbeat.

One final note specifically about Cinque Terre Residence.

We spoke with Davide when we departed and I mentioned that I intended to write a positive review about the hotel. He sincerely asked if there was anything that we felt needed improvement or weren't satisfied with. Neither of us could think of a thing to change or try to improve and we both felt that our stay here had been in a word: excellent.

Davide replied that he had heard this from many, many of their guests and was somewhat perplexed that their reviews rated them as good or very good when guests had told him in person that they were completely satisfied with their stay here, as we were.

I've given this conversation a lot of thought and if you read any of my other reviews you'll know I'm not hesitant to offer our opinions, good and not so good. I try to be honest and objective and offer constructive feedback in the event an operator actually reads my review and to hopefully help our fellow travelers.

With this hotel I can only say that we had a wonderful time. Please keep doing exactly what you're doing and thank you for a wonderful vacation in your part of the world! We loved Italy. We loved Cinque Terre and we loved Cinque Terre Residence!!

Such a great visit to this area! A little hard to find the first time but don't let that stop you! We totally enjoyed our stay! The view from our little patio was gorgeous, with terraced vineyards across the way!

We loved hiking between the towns and coming back to our comfortable room! This is a simply magical, stunning country! Hiking through the vineyards and olive gardens with a view of the sea below was incredible! Thank you, Davide, for helping us navigate the area!
