“Good Place to Stay in the Cinque Terre”
Reviewed 20 April 2009

Just returned from 2 nights in the Cinque Terre. La Baia di Rio was a very good place to stay. The views from the room veranda were stunning, and the family that rents the rooms were very nice and accomodating. We appreciated their hospitality. The rooms themselves are very small, but clean. The bed was not the most comfortable bed on the trip but adequate. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay.

This place was fantastic. The view incredible and a delightful town. The room is plain but adequate. Clean. View from deck is jaw dropping. Great location to explore the Cinque Terra. Emiliano was a wonderful host with excellent suggestions. He is more than willing to help you out. Thank your for a wonderful place that is at a reasonable cost.

My wife and I stayed in the Marco Polo suite during the first week of April, 2009. This suite is the only room on the top floor of a house that has been converted to a hotel. The owners are very nice people but they don't live at the hotel, therefore if you need something like extra towels or soap, they are not present, but can be reached by phone (we did not have a phone which made this inconvenient for us). However the views are awesome, the room was clean, and the spot is quiet and perfect for a few days. I highly recommend this for any couple that wants to visit Cinque Terra. One final recommendation...avoid the restaurant closest to the water (La Lanterna) as the owner will rip you off. We were warned in advance, but still got ripped off. This was the only disappointing moment in an otherwise terrific visit.

Great apartment in beautiful riomaggiore. Amazing terrace with ocean and town views. Easy access from the train station with the lift. Emiliano was very helpful and provided great tips for restaurants. A truly memorable stay!

I selected this apartment based upon Tripadvisor reviews and the view from Google Earth. In a word, it was awesome and even my dead-inside teenage son was impressed. Emiliano, the host, was helpful and accomodating. The large one-bedroom "Marco Polo Suite" was modern and . had a great view from the large patio, perhaps the best view ever. There was plenty of space for the four of us.

If you are coming with a car, make arrangements before hand for your parking and have Emiliano or his mother meet you. Plan on walking a bit with your luggage and climbing some stairs.

We spent 7 nights in Italy and our stay here stands out.

See the attached picture for the night view from the balcony.

My friend and I stayed in the Marco Polo suite in early October, 2008. The hostess is outstanding (great recommendations), the view is beyond anything we could have asked for and the size of the room, kitchenette and bathroom were phenomenal. You will be amazed by these accommodations and when you step out onto the enormous private terrace...oh my gosh...the view! It's hard to provide a critical review when I loved every second of our stay. Can't wait to come back!!

Stayed three nights at the end of September. We had paid a little extra for the Marco Polo suite which is on the top floor facing the sea - worth every cent. This is an apartment, not a hotel room. Small kitchenette was useful. Large room with good ensuite. The shower is small but this is fairly typical of many places we stayed in Italy and France. We were met at the station by Emiliano who helped with our bags and showed us to our room (use the elevator from the station). We took up Emiliano's suggestion of Lampara for dinner and were not disapointed - Cinque Terre is all about seafood. Also try the excellent local white wines.
Cinque Terre is magnificent - worth staying two to three days at least.
