“Best Food So Far In Genoa - Great Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

Da Gaia was recommended to me by an Italian work colleague, and very pleased I am to have taken his advice and visited the restaurant. I have booked again for Thursday evening so I can try some of the other dishes! I had a great fish soup with black beans which was an interesting variation on the genre, and Pork Fillet in red wine sauce and black rice which was delicious (see picture!) The house wine is great value at 5 euros per half litre as well :o)

If, like me, you read the bad reviews for some amusement you would be puzzled by many of the subjective comments. If you see the choice of red and white wine in Da Gaia I can only wonder at one comment about the lack of choice - must surely have the wrong establishment?

There is also outside seating at the entrance to the alley on the junction with the main road

“worth the search”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

A small restaurant down a dark narrow side street in the old part of town once through the narrow door and down the steps into the bar it opens up into a very pleasant rustic set of rooms .My wife and I ate there twice and on both occasions the food was excellent .the place is popular with locals and it was obvious that many customers were regular frequenters of the place .Service was a little surley but this may have been an appearance as my Italian is limited and their English appeared the same but all in all a good experience as we went again

“Fine Lunch Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

We went to Da Gaia for lunch one day. They had English menus but I had noticed a daily menu posted on the window (in Italian) and asked the waitress about that. She could quite clearly describe the options there and we went for the sea bass with aubergine pure and veggies along with half a liter of very nice house white. The fish was excellent and the lunch was crowned with a Tiramisu that was just perfect.

“OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

Most of the dishes were acceptable, but nothing special. The service was pleasant enough but did not make up for the average meal.

“Very good restaurant, great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Gaia offers very good food, the service is friendly and reasonably fast, prices are quite moderate. The location is on the edge of the oldest part of the city and this is key because in this area there are few decent options. It's not that hard to find, the ally may seem unpleasant but once you get inside it is nice and the bathroom was very clean. Open for lunch and dinner but be aware that they close by 3 and don't open again till 730.
