Owner description: The Palazzi dei Rolli is a group of palaces in Genoa, northern Italy. On July 13, 2006, forty-two of eighty subscribers to 'Palazzi dei Rolli' or rolls' palaces were entered by the special committee UNESCO meeting in Vilnius (Lithuania) between the members. About 10 million euro was spent on their restoration in the 1990s with the use of public and private capital. On January 20, 2007, a plaque was placed by UNESCO at the beginning of Via Garibaldi on the grounds that it inserts the description of Palazzi dei Rolli within the world heritage listing: The largest homes, various in shape and distribution, that were chosen at random in the lists (rolli) to host visits of state. The buildings, often built on sloping land, formed of a stepped atrium - courtyard - staircase - garden and rich interior decorations, express a singular social and economic identity and commencement of modern age urban architecture in Europe.

This is a lovely street to stroll down through -- not to be missed. The different palazzi are a treat to behold. Some have been lovingly restored while others are decaying. The visitor gets a good sense of the wealth that was concentrated in the hands of the privileged in Genoa.

My partner and I decided to visit the palaces during our day trip in genoa. The tickets are 9 euro per person and allows you into both bianco, trusi and rosso. We found bianco and tursi to be quite plan and didn't spend as much time in it as we did rosso. Rosso was beautiful with amazing paintings on the roof. You can also go on top of the roof and over look the city which is amazing. If visiting this make sure you allow yourself enough time.

If you buy the combined ticket, go to the Palazzo Bianco first, then the Rosso. The flow of the presentation of the art history makes more sense in that order. No one at the ticket booth offered any guidance and you could see them in random order. The Palazzo Rosso has a fabulous overlook of the city center from the "widows walk" at the very summit of the roof.

They bulilt trophy houses in Genoa to out do the neighbors! Fantastic palaces crammed next to each other along a block with only an 8 m street width . But amazing architecture and all and very well maintained now as UNESCO world hertiage. We wlaked from train station so went round Reale first. UP many stpes to top grand floor is worth the climb - amazing rook with mirrors, and king and queen bedrooms. I was amused queen's bed is wider than king. ( maybe he visits her but not vv?) Be sure to walk out on upper deck/ tiled promenade and view port and garden below.

free tickets for over 65 Euro, so take proof. Get duo with Spinale too

Another one great Palace in Genoa. Genoa is full of excellent architectural monuments. Walk arround the hole town to discover them. No wonder the whole town is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
