We went to Ristorante L'Atelier dei Sapori Liguri on the recommendation of the desk clerk at our hotel. We absolutely loved it and much of our enjoyment could be attributed to our waiter. He was, quite simply, an exemplary ambassador for the restaurant and the Ligurian region of Italy. His English was very good and he patiently explained menu items, wine pairings and the unique quality of Ligurian olive oil, specifically, why it is so much better for frying. On that recommendation we shared the mixed fried fish and vegetable starter (not unlike tempura) which was amazing. Then we each ordered the tagliata beef on arugula topped with shaved parmesan. It was also mouth wateringly good.

Too full for dessert, our waiter offered us a complimentary liqueur produced locally from herbs grown in Camogli. Once again we loved it.

This was easily the best restaurant we visited in Genoa and one of the best on our entire 4 week vacation. Language barriers can be difficult for servers and patrons alike and English speakers are luckier than most when travelling in Europe. Still, the effort this young man made to make our meal a positive experience for us was greatly appreciated and we highly recommend Ristorante L'Atelier for food and service.

I come back every time I can. If you want to taste the real Genoese cuisine in a warm and elegant atmosphere, you have to dinner here. Let you drive by Gianluca in a journey of taste with marvelous fish ravioli, fried acciughe, entrecôte and delicious home made desserts. Everything served with the best local wines and all the kindness of the amazing staff :)

If you want to enjoy a typical Genoese meal of fried calamari, pasta with pesto (basil) and fresh fish cooked in a delicious light sauce, accompanied by a local Ligurian white wine, this is the place you want to go to. And all at a very reasonable price with helpful service. Eat outside on the street if weather permits & enjoy seeing the world go by Italian-style. Bellissimo.

Been here today and felt I had to comment. We had lots of help from an understanding waiter. The food was a bit different and interesting. Will eat here again when we return to Genoa

A very interesting dining experience in the hearth of Genova's historic district, just 100 m from Colombo's birthplace. A typical Liguria food selection with some interesting variations, nothing too radical though: we can suggest the tuna steak, the seafood raviolis and the deep-fried mix, however everything shows care in choice of the ingredients and preparation. Wine selection was fair but could be improved.
