The hotel was likely once a beautiful, grand hotel. It is now a bit run down (broken wood flooring, worn carpets, etc). My room was very large (larger than any hotel I think I've ever stayed in Europe!). The room was supposed to be set for two people - that ended up being two single beds, made up separately and pushed together! This was not what I expected and was disappointed in finding this. So, if you want the room set appropriately you probably need to specifically ask!
The bartender is very nice - great service!

I stay at the Bristol every year for business, and love it. Very central location. This hotel is a grand hotel of from last century, with the most remarkable flying staircase spiraling up many floors and topped by a large stain glass window that can be seen from the lobby. The interior is not the newest, which I why I gave 4 stars, but the value is great. Do be careful on room selection. This old style hotel has some rooms that are huge with balconies, sofas, high ceiling and tend to be on street front side of the hotel, some are nice sized with high ceilings and perfectly reasonable, some are closet sized, which were probably initially intended when the hotel was open for staff traveling with Travelers, however could be your room without being careful.

Room Tip: To not be sleeping in a closet sized room, choose a room level labeled Deluxe, whether single or dou...

The Bristol Palace is an old school grand hotel in a very central location in Genoa close to the opera house. Some rooms of the deluxe category are very large with 4 meter high ceilings. The 2nd and 3rd floors best. There is nothing wrong with the hotel restaurant, but Genoa has so many more interesting restaurants that I recommend travellers to go out and eat.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms towards the main street are very large

We stayed for 3 days. Couldn't really ask for a location more central to the main sights. We had a deluxe double room which was massive with huge double aspect windows, two small balconies over the street and furnished with antiques. The ensuite shower room (no bath) looked tired and needed upgraded. The breakfast buffet was fine. Staff were pleasant. This large hotel is packed full of original period details. It has a faded charm that a recent make-over doesn't quite capture or enhance. With more attention to detail and design in the public areas, it could really re-capture the glamour and atmosphere of a bygone era. That said the place has bags more character and a certain elegance that most modern hotels lack.

Room Tip: Reserve one of the front/corner rooms with the bay windows and balconies that you can see in the hot...

Perfect central location with classic interior. Friendly staff that very nicely contacted me and return my forgotten IPAD. Pleasant breakfast buffet that even included Champagne! If we are going to Genoa and looking for better hotel, I can recommend this one.

Great location but very old hotel.
The room furniture are old and the whole room like a old cottage.
Its more suitable for those love old and historical room. Unfortunately not for me.

However, the room was clean and very spacious.
