Great Hotel, comfortable room, heavenly doonas, wonderful location. Breakfast selection to suit every culture and taste (must have changed since Singapore_Carla was there though we do find Italian cheeses a little bland). Fabulous restaurant, La Rune, right downstairs (best semi fredo on the planet and fabulous staff). Pleasant outdoor restaurant right by the front door. Front desk staff have good English language skills. Great free internet connection. System must have changed since Thomas077 was there because we had no problems at all on the baby laptop or the ipad.
Didn't even get to check if there was a spa or fitness centre (not that I would look for a fitness centre anyway!!)

Room Tip: Rooms over the square have better view but also have all night street lighting (good window treateme...

This was our second stay here and we liked it even better than the first (which we liked a lot)! We again treated ourselves to a suite, which we felt was excellent value for money, spacious with an outdoor terrace, and views across the city to the port and the Mediterrean sea. The breakfast quality was MUCH improved from our last stay----excellent variety of cereals, pastries, fruits, cheeses and eggs, even oranges to squeeze to make fresh juice. The cappucino and expresso were excellent, "American coffee" improved, but could still use more work. We had the sense it might be very good quality instant, rather than freshly brewed like the various expresso drinks. The location of the hotel is outstanding--just next to the main piazza and the Carlo Felice opera house, a short walk to the Port and its outstanding acquarium, near central shopping and also the fascinating world of the caruggi.
We were in Genoa to see family and during our stay there was a major family crisis which required us to extend our stay. Staff could not have been more kind, gracious and helpful. It made a tremendous difference at a difficult moment.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor, ask for corner room.

Very functional hotel in a great location. The staff was outstanding. The young man who checked us in was Andrea and we were very impressed with his helpfulness, he seemed genuinely friendly and was eager to answer all of our questions. The hotel itself is decorated in 70s mod style which isn't everyone's cup of tea. I don't agree with Thomas077 about the internet, our connection was extremely fast and reliable. Yes, we had to enter our login and password for each session but at least the connection was excellent. The breakfast buffet was a real disappointment...very unusual for a Best Western. Overall, I would rate this hotel as a 3 star not a 4 star.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Although it is a Best Western, it has some individual character and has been designed in a way which is somehow optimistic and enjoyable. The rooms for example are painted in warm yellow and are simply a nice place to stay in. The location is great – just by the Piazza De Ferrari, so you can either begin exploring the old town and the Porto Antico, or turn to Le Strade Nuove (Via Garibaldi) with its opulent palaces. Many great restaurants are a few steps away (including the hotels own La Rune or Trattoria Rosmarino, deservedly highly valued by Tripadvisor reviewers). Breakfast very good with quite a rich selection of various products and freshly squeezed orange juice. After all this praise I must however explain why I give don’t give the maximum number of stars, and because such hotels are often chosen by business travelers this matter may be more important for some guests than for me (I was on a vacation). The reason is internet connection of a truly dismal quality. Slow, often breaking, failing to log in at times and incredibly cumbersome to operate. Of course, as has become standard in many hotels, you cannot just give the password, but must log in through a hotel webpage, so that your computer or other device does not remember it. Needless to explain, login and password are randomly chosen sets of letters and figures you cannot remember, either. After using the connection you should log out, which requires opening a new page. Since because of the poor quality of the connection you have to repeat these steps many times I can only describe the experience as frustrating. IF this could be fixed, there would be nothing to complain about.

This is a business hotel, functional and clean with everything within walking distance. The bed was supremely comfortable, flat screen TV, free WiFi which worked well throughout the hotel, clean and modern though the bathroom was small. Our room was slightly noisy, overlooking the bar at the front of the hotel, but it wasn't unbearable and we heard nothing from adjoining rooms (the hotel was full one night). We only ate breakfast in the restaurant, which offered freshly squeezed juice and a good selection of teas, breads and pastries.

Parking was expensive at Euro 25 per night.

Room Tip: 'Sound' room very well soundproofed, but ask for a room that doesn't overlook the front...

This is a lovely hotel. We were exhausted from traveling by train from Florence and spending the afternoon in Pisa, so we took a cab from the train station and the cab driver charged us 15 euro standard, or so we were told. The cab driver proceeded to give us a grand tour for our money and was pleasant. The hotel was clean, under construction and the rooms were big and comfortable. There was an alarm clock with natural sun that we were too tired to figure out how to work. The construction did not affect our stay negatively in any way. The dinner at the hotel seemed a little expensive, so we walked to a nearby pizza restaurant and ate with the locals - families and teenagers on dates. The food was delishes! Free internet and a free breakfast which was very good. We were able to walk to the MSC Splendida from this hotel with our luggage, but we are walkers. When you get to the port area, stay on the street sidewalks because you need to cross over a bridge to get to the ship (Stazione Maritime) and if you follow the port sidewalks you will end up below the bridge to get to the ship (yes, we did this!). Very easy walk to the Train Station from Stazione Maritime, but uphill. Still easy and nearby. Nice little gem of a hotel and I would stay here again and recommend to friends. Front desk professional. Bathrooms large.

stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip in Jan 2012. Had a 40m2 suite on the top floor, with a large private terrace overlooking the city roofs and the port and sea in the distance. The room was very comfortable, with a large double bed, modern furnishing, flat screen TV, a large desk, closet with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities and a safe. This room is sound-proof so you don't hear anything and I slept very well (I don't know if all rooms are sound-proof). The hotel is central and you can reach most places in the old part of town, lots of shops and restaurants, the "carruggi" (narrow alleyways) and have a leasurly walk down to the old port and the Acquarium. Good selection of continental breakfast. Free wi-fi. Would recommend to anybody on a business trip, or for a special occasion. Did not try the restaurant.

Room Tip: if you can afford it and want to splash out, choose the top floor suite with private terrace.
