Very nice hotel in the city center. Valet parking (€25), nice rooms, very helpful and friendly service and a super breakfast. Even order your own coffee in you own style.

Very close to the sights, shops, restaurants and bars.

The elevators are tiny, so a family with seven suitcases will need a few minutes to get up and down :-). South Europeean checkout here as well = a lot of writing, calculating, stamping, stapeling and printing. Would have liked aircondition to get "scandinavian" sleeping climate. But these are all small things. The overall is excellent!

Right outside the entrance, there is a very good coctail bar. Great for a quick night cap with the best of bartending.

Room Tip: Cheap upgrade from basic to a bit more spacious room (10-12€). Try to get a room on the same side as...

The hotel was in a central position, just a few minutes walk away from the main square. It was situated in a cul de sac next to a fabulous restaurant which seemed to be busy from lunch time onwards (until after midnight), so it might be better to get a room at the back.

The hotel scored points by giving a welcome drink & tea was served each afternoon but the only public seating area doubled as a dining room, was not too comfortable to linger in & had Italian pop music blaring out nearly all the time. When the staff were asked to change the music, I was met with a shrug & told it was not possible! Bedroom was excellent & so were the toiletries (there was even a gift pack!).
Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of both cold & hot food.

Room Tip: If you have trouble sleeping, rooms at the back are probably quieter.

The hotel is very centrally located, at foot distance from Piazza De Ferrari, the very center of Genoa. It's not in a very good place, behind via Roma, so do not expect a beautiful view from your room window. Anyway the hotel comfort is absolutely good, room are very spatious and fully equipped, bathrooms are wide as well with all you can expect. Breakfast then is absolutely fantastic, with plenty of cakes, sweets, fruit but also continental things for not Italians; coffees and cappuccinos are made at the bar, not from automatic machines, what I think is very important for their quality. All in all, if you have to go to Genoa consider this hotel as a good option, even not very expensive.

Before even starting to comment about the hotel, I would like to thank all personnel of Best Western City Hotel. Everyone working at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. My wife and I appreciated especially the kindness and attention of Sara at the reception who assisted us with literally everything.

The location of the hotel is very central and convenient, on a side street leading to Via Roma, and only 2-3 minute walking distance to Piazza Ferrari and subway station.

The rooms were very clean and well maintained, albeit few square meters smaller than ideal.
The breakfast selection was also rich and tasty, with lots of fresh fruit and bread varieties.

The only setback is a certain amount of noise which is a minor side effect of the hotel's central location.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Genoa.

Great Hotel, comfortable room, heavenly doonas, wonderful location. Breakfast selection to suit every culture and taste (must have changed since Singapore_Carla was there though we do find Italian cheeses a little bland). Fabulous restaurant, La Rune, right downstairs (best semi fredo on the planet and fabulous staff). Pleasant outdoor restaurant right by the front door. Front desk staff have good English language skills. Great free internet connection. System must have changed since Thomas077 was there because we had no problems at all on the baby laptop or the ipad.
Didn't even get to check if there was a spa or fitness centre (not that I would look for a fitness centre anyway!!)

Room Tip: Rooms over the square have better view but also have all night street lighting (good window treateme...

This was our second stay here and we liked it even better than the first (which we liked a lot)! We again treated ourselves to a suite, which we felt was excellent value for money, spacious with an outdoor terrace, and views across the city to the port and the Mediterrean sea. The breakfast quality was MUCH improved from our last stay----excellent variety of cereals, pastries, fruits, cheeses and eggs, even oranges to squeeze to make fresh juice. The cappucino and expresso were excellent, "American coffee" improved, but could still use more work. We had the sense it might be very good quality instant, rather than freshly brewed like the various expresso drinks. The location of the hotel is outstanding--just next to the main piazza and the Carlo Felice opera house, a short walk to the Port and its outstanding acquarium, near central shopping and also the fascinating world of the caruggi.
We were in Genoa to see family and during our stay there was a major family crisis which required us to extend our stay. Staff could not have been more kind, gracious and helpful. It made a tremendous difference at a difficult moment.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor, ask for corner room.
