We visited the hotel for my partner's 30th birthday and we were quite happy with the service. The girls in reception were very helpful, the breakfast is excellent and the bar has a very old school glamour feel about it. We also booked to use the private spa which was a really nice and unique experience.

Loved our two night stay at The Hotel Grand Savoia at the end of a cruise. Well renovated and Interesting old hotel. Although our room was small and quite dark as it looked out onto an internal courtyard, it was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. Plenty of towels and complimentary cosmetics in the large bathroom. The hotel is in an unbeatable location close to the port and the railway station. The reception staff are exceptionally polite and there is a particularly pleasant lounge and small bar leading off the reception area. The breakfast was wonderful with just about everything you could ever think of on offer and very pleasant, efficient restaurant staff. A lovely experience and would definitely stay there again on our next visit to this beautiful city.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Was at great end to our Cruise as we released in the fantastic Spa. Stay in one of the new refurbished rooms. We paid a little more than other hotels, but you get what you pay for. Would highly recommend.

We had a great week here, lovely quiet room and very efficient friendly staff. Spotlessly clean in every aspect, and conveniently located near the main station which made our expeditions to Turin and the coast very easy. We loved the luxuriously furnished main lounge with its little bar in the corner where charming Luca the barman made us an extremely potent Hendrix and tonic... We'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back - nice and quiet

Our family stayed here for two nights. We loved Genoa -- what a great (and relatively undiscovered) old city. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable, but it has the feeling of having seen better days. The pictures and ads feature its century old history, but I'm not sure that's the best strategy. It seems to indicate that it is living off its past. That's probably unfair, but we got that feeling while we were there. The rooms are renovated and clean, and the bathrooms work well. The staff seems stressed out, though, as if they have management constantly looking over their shoulders. We arrived at midnight and found that they had neglected to prepare the third bed in our room (for our child). The breakfast was large and well presented, but some of the food was past its expiration date (tangy grapefruit pieces, for example), indicating that the hotel is trying to cut costs.

We had booked to stay at the sister hotel next door, the Hotel Continental, but were bumped from that 4 star hotel to this 5 star one. The room we had looked out over an internal area and was quiet and well appointed. Whilst the hotel had a degree of style it struck as provincial 5 star rather than a major city 5 star. We were there over Easter and they were very generous with chocolates.

Spent three nights here as part of a small tour party, so had very little contact with Reception, but our experience in every other regard was first class. The situation of the Hotel is, at first glance, unpromising - opposite the main Railway Station, but this was ideal in the days of the "Grand Tour" when guest typically came by train. Nowadays, it is just a short walk into the fascinating mediaeval streets of Genoa. Superb bedroom overlooking the station, with excellent sound insulation, efficient air conditioning and very comfortable beds. The range of dishes available at breakfast was as good as I have experienced anywhere, including omelettes cooked to order.
