The city of Genoa is a difficult place to know and like. We stayed at the end of coastal Ligurian holiday and arrived a day early to escape stormy weather and a rail strike.
Staff were helpful but we would have got a much cheaper deal for our extra night had we gone via booking.com.
The executive room was lovely and the Belle Epogue decor of the hotel is striking and beautiful. Breakfast was good. The hotel however lacks atmosphere and does not even have a proper bar apart from a serving hatch on the roof terrace. No cocktails, aperitivos or experience to match the building or the hotel rating. Also no nightly turn down serice which surprised us.
Location is good for the station but makes for a scary trip to the old historic centre. The best parts of Genoa for the tourist are unfortunately honeycombed with areas which have a very menacing and unsafe air. Staying here was fine but I would not return.More
