A four star hotel that is probably a three star hotel in the rest of the world beside Italy. A lousy breakfast and ugly rooms. The location was far from downtown Genoa. A good thing though is the parking, since we were travelling by car.

Nice hotel with good price & nice stuff as start point for cruise (MSC or Costa). Rooms are little it outdated and need an renovation, but perfectly clean. Breakfast is very good, and parking is free. Free parking is one of the most important points because parking in Genova is pricey.
Hotel has free wi-fi which is not quite nice, slow with lot of breaks. Hotel is about an 1 km walk from Porto Antico and Ponte de Mille where is cruise embarkation point.

Room Tip: As for non smoking room.

I would recommend no one goes here.

Bad location.. Right opp the docks.. Noisy and ugly.

Working girls all over the place at night.

The breakfast is bad no wait it was horrible. Not worth even 1 euro.

Wifi poor.

Rooms are outdated..

Only plus was parking.

I only saw a little of Genoa bit what I saw I did not like. The hotel surroundings are old and dirty. Lots of traffic. Noisy. On the positive side, the hotel is right next to the ferry port - which has a small mall, including a McDonalds and a small supermarket.

As soon as you enter the Colombus, you realise it has seen better days. The lobby seems not to have been touched since the '80's, and this hold true for the rooms as well. The lifts were old and slow. My room was reasonably sized, with a surprisingly large bathroom (with tub). Unfortunately, the room's carpet was old and stained, and the whole room stank of frying (?).

The view is nice - Genoa port is right outside the window. There's a small flat-screen TV, but I couldn't find any inputs. A kettle is provided, but no cups....

The hotel has free parking, which is not common in Genoa. Reception staff were extremely pleasant.

Good enough for an overnight stay, but not more.

The hotel is near the ferry harbor (and ask for a room overlooking the harbor to see this active place).
Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good.
You get only 1 hour free WiFi per day, which is a big minus.

It is not in a walking distance to any of the interesting touristic pace in Genoa.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the harbor to see this active place.

Genoa is not a tourist destination, it is so run down, I felt unsafe and I felt like I was in another country as it did not feel like it was part of Italy, it was a total shock coming from Tuscany and Florence to this place. We stayed here as we were on our way to see an old friend in Pavia, and it was one of the only few places which had parking. The front desk attendant was not very friendly at all, should not be in customer service. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy, but no free wifi. After checking in and walking around Genoa, we decided to get out of there and drive down to a nice seaside town called Savona, where we stayed for dinner. The only thing I enjoyed about the hotel was the breakfast and checking out.
Not sure how or who gave them the 4 stars.
Will not be coming back to Genoa that's for sure.
