“One night - OK; longer stay - go somewhere else”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

This B&B is run by two very friendly people. It is a self contained flat, with two guest rooms, in a beautiful old palazzo with amazing views of Genoa. While the view is magnificent, it means the B&B is located in a way that makes it unsuitable for older or disabled guests. It is too bad though that there are no views from the rooms as these face the inner courtyard which makes them extremely dark. Despite owners best intentions, the service is poor and the B&B is organised in a rather scattered way. The room we stayed in is called Menta, and is furnished in Moroccan style. This would be pleasant if the decorations were not too many so not to leave any surface where to place your own things and if the light was better - even with all of 3 lamps on, it was still too dark to read the guidebook (and the B&B lacks any other cosy space where to sit and read). The bathroom was spacious and very beautiful but in complete contrast with the room so it felt quite disjoint. But the biggest problem was that there was no cleaning service at all the 4 nights we stayed, whether for the rooms or the bathroom. Breakfast was also a bit of a disaster. The first two days we got nothing but a coffee and the last two a pastry and a piece of foccaccia. There is a limit to how much bread one can eat - so, to have some yogurt, fruit, muesli, eggs, salami or cheese would have been a welcome change. Having said all of this, and despite owners best intentions, EUR 80 per night is way too expensive!

Room Tip: There are 2 rooms only, each with its own bathroom. One is in Moroccan style and one traditional in...

I'm sorry you found so many flaws that no one had ever found in our structure. Our B & B wants to be characterized by the style of its rooms decorated in a rigorous and well-defined, the rest of the structure has a modern style as the bathrooms. His complaints about the light in the room I think are incorrect, because it's our deliberate choice to create an atmosphere suffused in the Mint's room, in Basil's room is higher the amount of light. 3 sofas and 16 armchairs in the living room of 50sqm which offers an excellent view over the city and where there is light all day and is available to guests is not enough? Our structure is not suitable for wheelchairs but is suitable for people of all ages, and we're on the ground floor with two entrances from the main door of the palace and from the garden. As for the breakfast, we offer a typical Italian breakfast, we aren't an international hotel with self-service breakfast, we don't serve eggs with bacon, etc.. but you didn't tell us anything about the breakfast when you was here, you just said me about the amount, and the day after we provide you the double, if you asked for, we should arrange something different, just for you. Also in the common area we use to leave some sweet for our guest. About cleaning, you are the first people who complain, we will treasure your notes, to improve the quality of our B&B. thanks anyway

This was an old fashioned house and the hostess was extremely friendly. She couldnt have been more helpful.
We stayed in a large clean room. There was no air con but the windows were fully open with mos nets in them so it was fine. Bathroom was great, good shower, very clean.

Room Tip: choose the "maestro"
