“Fit for a princess”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

We did not have a reservation and after travelling a whole night and morning to Genova from Croatia, we rocked up and asked if they had a room available. The reception clerk was very efficient and we were checked in quickly. The room was beyond belief! I forget if we mentioned that we were on our honeymoon, but it certainly fit the bill! A huge comfortable bed and a living room and the bathroom had a spa! All for roughly $200AUD. We had a great night walking around the harbour area and retuned to have a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant! I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely stay here again. The antique elevator was so great as well. I felt like I had stepped back in time.

My fiancé and I stayed here just the one night on our travels (not enough time in Genova by the way!!) and it's a great little hotel. Greeted so professionally at reception and then just had good vibes. It's always daunting when you get your hotel key and open the door ever so slowly...... I was not disappointed. We had such a beautiful room!! Big bed, big bathroom, massive windows overlooking the beautiful city!! Couch and day bed in the room too and the furnishings are lovely! Beautiful decor all round. Our room had a fridge (cold one too!) safe, wardrobe, big tv, table and chair. Decent brekky too - buffet with everything. Eggs, bacon, continental, fruit, cereal coffee etc etc. Also very close to the train station, about a 5 min walk and Bus 20 stops 1 minute down the road. It's in a great central location.

Gorgeous hotel all in all I would stay here again when we come back.

We stayed at the Hotel Continental 2 nights before and 2 nights after we went to Cinque Terra. The location is very convenient to the train station which is just at the end of the street. Our first 2 nights, we had a room on the front of the hotel and it was very noisy even with the windows closed. Lots of car and motorbikes. When we returned, we asked for a room in the back and that room was quiet! We definitely preferred that. The room was very clean and very comfortable. No complaints. From this location, it's an easy walk to all the sights in Genoa and also lots of restaurants nearby. The included breakfast had several hot choices plus lots of other breads and cheeses. Always nice to have breakfast included in the rate!! The staff was very accommodating when we asked if we could leave some luggage at the hotel until we returned. We enjoyed the restaurant Trattoria Tralalero which is next door at the Hotel Savoia. If we return to Genoa, we would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for a room in the back of the hotel!!

We stayed here for just 1 night and were overall very happy with the stay. The hotel is located just across the street from the Principe train and metro station with a 24hr pharmacy next door and many small restaurants just down the street. We walked everywhere with the main historical attractions about 15min away. The room was on par with other European accommodations in terms of size, that is to say small by US standards. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Small comfort items were offered including slippers, shoe shine sponge, and a complementary bottle of water. Service was excellent and the staff spoke English. Wifi was free and sufficiently fast. Electrical outlets were easily accessible (remember to bring your converter).
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Genoa. If you want to be right in the middle of the action, look for a hotel closer to the Porto Antico area, otherwise, this hotel is perfect if you don't mind walking a little and exploring the city by foot.

Comfortable hotel in excellent location - near to station, waterfront and numerous restaurants. Reception staff very helpful regarding places to visit and where to eat, plus breakfast at hotel is equally good. Most places in Genoa can easily be reached by walking - you are spoilt for choice of restaurants (seafood a speciality). Also recommend the boat trip to Portofino as a day out.

Room Tip: Arrive early to get the best rooms.

good hotel, central location large room, friendly staff, breakfast v good worth the 10 euros each. beds very comfy and quiet, only getting in to the hotel after 12 midnight proved very difficult ! we just couldn't get anyone to let us in for ages.Genoa itself is not so good we flew here and hired car and drove to France next day so it was only a short visit, not impressed with what we saw, also it's very seedy at night.

Hotel was convenient to train station and no complaints. But would like more coffee and regular tea in the room and some milk. Walked everywhere and ate at local restaurants. We came by train from Venice and went on by train to Nice.
