“Good location and value for price paid”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2010

Overall the hotel was good. Staff were very helpful and kind, hotel was clean overall, including rooms and bathrooms. Our price included breakfast which was OK, not as plenty as buffets are in some higher class hotels, but still it was OK.There was bread, cereals, yogurt, fruits etc.
Location is good in the corner of old town. Our room was also quiet, as it was not facing the street. Do not know if rooms on street side are also quiet or not.
Minus is that toilet/bathroom is small, but it is quite normal in hotels operating in old building in southern Europe. Also from our room there were basically no views, you could only see wall of another building just 3 meters from our window. But as we really booked this hotel only for a place to sleep, it did not bother us.

This is a comfortable hotel with friendly and welcoming staff, conveniently situated within easy walking distance of Genoa's main train station, the city centre and the harbour. Our room was clean and well-equipped, breakfast was good and served in a pleasant area, and there were lots of little touches which showed that the management were taking a real interest in their clients and their needs, rather than just going through the motions. We stayed there during the British general election, and particularly appreciated the free internet access.

In the old part of the town/city, is a 15th century building 5/6 floors, but all modern inside.
Rooms reasonably spaceous, clean tidy and usual facilities.
Rooms facing front/main road, am told can be noisey until early hours. Rooms at rear much quieter, but have no 'view'.
There is a small elevator (No good if severe mobility problems or wheelchair).
Staff very friendly and good language skills, knowleable and efficient.
Small Lounge. free internet computer and Wi-Fi. bar and coffee.
Plenty of eating places just outside, nearby several attractions.
Breakfast/Continental, very good choice and plentiful.
Overall recommendable.

Me and my teenage kids stayed at this hotel with two other families enroute to a cruise. We spent two nights. As soon as you arrive, you feel like you have come home or at least to somewhere familiar. I will say the hotel is in an old building and is more European than "American" and has character. The rooms were good size and more than comfortable. One party did have a room with low ceilings but the room was large and had more than enough room (they were satisified). The bathroom was small but had what was needed. The second morning the shower was not as warm as preferred but probably because EVERYONE was up showering at the same time. The breakfast was a normal European continental breakfast. The best part was the free internet in the lobby - both with computer and wireless for your laptop - along with the sitting area that our group and our kids took over every evening and the morning after checkout while we waited for cruise check-in. Not sure if it is family owned but everyone that worked there was a pleasure to deal with. They offered a map in English during arrival and mapped out what we should see while we are there. They recommended some restaurants. We checkout one and it was fabulous and somewhere we never would have found on our own. They have a cappucinno machine (or whatever it is called) there at the counter and sell fabulous cappucinno's for 1 euro each. They keep candy supplied around the lobby and my kids should have probably left them 10 euros for all that they ate. They just kept filling it back up. I would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Just back from 3 nights stay here.
Our room was very dark - little natural light because of position of room at side of hotel. Remarkably quiet given how close to a busy street and number of rooms in hotel.
Room was clean -complimentary water kept in room fridge a nice touch and room comfortable, clean and large enough.
Breakfast of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, basic meat/cheese complimented by fresh bread.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay here if visiting Genoa again - good central location and easy walking from main station and other major sights.

Although the hotel is fairly inexpensive I can't be as enthusiastic about it as most of the other reviewers here. The room was very basic, which I don't mind at all, but it was dingy and a thick layer of dust on the top of the door frame suggested that cleaning was not thorough. A sign in the room indicated, to my shock, a complimentary minibar - however it was switched off and empty on arrival, and only contained 4 small bottles of water therafter. The service and breakfast were good and extra plus points come from providing free WIFI in the lounge downstairs. Also the location is very good, on the edge of the old town, but on the edge closest to, and within easy walking distance of, the main train station.

If they could redecorate the rooms to brighten them up substantially and then follow this up with thorough cleaning then this hotel would be a great one for the price, however as it is I can only say that it's passable.

As many other reviews here, we stayed here after disembarking from a Med. cruise. We stayed 2 nights to explore Genoa and also did a half day trip to Cinque Terre.
The front desk staff were very cordial and helpful. The room we had was not luxurious, but clean and comfortable, The food offered at breakfast was good quality and varied- we were very satisfied.
It's an easy walk to anywhere in the Old City area, and even to Principe train station.
