We loved this hotel. And what a great city Genoa is - packed full of history and culture but still somehow gritty and real and lived in.
The hotel is new and family owned and the young owner is one of the most pleasant and helpful hoteliers you could wish to meet. And I am not saying that just because he gave us a bottle of wine when we left!
The rooms are airy with high ceilings, simply but tastefully decorated in a modern style that does not intrude on the architecture of the centuries old building. Unlike many city centre hotels at this mid level price, our bathroom lived up to its name and actually had a bath which, on occasion was large enough for two!
The breakfast was great. Fresh sweet or savoury food, including some gut busting home made cakes, lovingly prepared and presented by charming staff who were always ready to provide more and to serve up endless cappuccinos.
If we are ever back in Genoa we would make a beeline for this little boutique hotel. It's a bit tricky to find but that's part of its charm. And don't bother with a car, Genoa is a city best explored on foot and you can't easily park near to the hotel.
