A beautiful apartment with 3 guest rooms, very elegant and very well furnished, in a quiet neighborhood, not far from the city center or the port, which however was not accessible by car, but by stairs with 59 steps or a long uphill path! The owner and the stuff were all very friendly and the owner gave us information about where to eat or what places in and close to Genoa to visit. The lady that served breakfast was not speaking any English and it was a little difficult for me to communicate. Breakfast was tasty and very elegantly served but included only sweets. It was the cozy atmosphere, however, of the place and its colors and lighting that made you feel like home. If you're fit enough to cope with the stairs and you fancy B&B, then this definitely an excellent choice!

We stayed here in mid-October, just after the Boat Show closed. First, it's perfectly easy to find, in an apartment block just off via Palestro, itself a clearly marked road from Piazza Corvetto; the steps are steep, but the alternative, a path leading from via Calatafimi is less so (though longer). It's not at the end of the world though! And when you arrive, Cinzia and Ugo are the most gracious and helpful of hosts. We had a spacious, elegantly furnished, room with a really comfortable bed for the reduced rate of €75/night - including lovely breakfasts of fruit juice, croissants, breads, yoghurts, and freshly made coffee of choice. From the apartment it's a 10 minute walk to Genova Brignole, the station for trains heading west: just 10 mins or so to lovely Nervi, maybe 30 mins to Camogli - both of which are trips we'll worth making. Alternatively, walk down to the Centro Historico in about 15 mins, enjoying the high-end shops in via Roma as you go. Finally, don't miss the beautiful La Piazzetta in via Calatafimi where we enjoyed the most delicious meal of our trip. It's less than 5 mins away. Il Salotto is a wonderful base.

This is an impressive and reasonably priced B&B at 90 euros a night. The room was spacious, the location was central and the host was organised and welcoming. No complaints but should mention the bathroom is on the small side (only a shower but it was clean and powerful) and the wi-fi range was limited - that aside it was excellent. Great restaurant recommendations from Cinzia, who knows her stuff. If you have heavy bags I'd advise you to take a taxi as the hill to the B&B is steep and there are some challenging steps to deal with once you've got to the property.

Centrally located just minutes from the centre of the Old Town, this charming B&B was a real find. In a traditional apartment block, the spacious rooms are tastefully decorated, newly renovated and beautifully furnished, and the sitting room area is a lovely place to relax. The view from the high windows across rooftops is lovely, and the walking around the neighbourhood very pleasant. Cinzia is really friendly and helpful, and made great suggestions for sightseeing, dining and shopping. Beware the stairs to access the quiet pedestrian-only area, and brush up on your yoga for the shower experience! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this B&B and would definitely stay here again.

We had 2 rooms for 4 people in July 2012 and stayed here for 3 nights. Cinzia is a great hostess and very helpful for restaurants. We went to Fuori Orario, that everyone in their reviews had mentioned, and it was awesome! The B&B is so comfortable and in a quiet location but still central for walking around the city. The only potential issues for some people might be the 50+ steps up to the building and the freakishly small shower. We handled both but some may not be able or interested.
