... and when I say "above", I do mean really above. As others have said, you go all the way to the top, and this gives you a great view of La Spezia. Being way up there, it's away from the noise of the city; the evenings were silent except for far-away church bells.
Walter and Carla were very welcoming and helpful. Not having a car, we were expecting to take taxis to/from the city, but they insisted on driving us. There is even bus service, though not frequent.
The breakfasts were amazing. More than we could eat every day, so we took some for the road. Cakes for breakfast! Mmmm.
The facilities were fine. It took the water a while to warm up, but in the heat that was just fine.More
