We stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting the Cinque Terra - should have stayed more. We had a little trouble finding it, with only a small sign on the building wall amongst many other signs, and right opposite the busy markets. The building appears a little old from the outside and when going into the building foyer and lifts you start to think you made a mistake coming here. But when going through the door to the B&B what a tremendous surprise!! Ultra modern!! Our room, on a corner of the building was very large, spacious, had a queen bed and another day bed, beautiful bathroom, large windows opening up to the markets, and when shut nearly soundproof. Everything fantastic! The fridge had a sign "help yourself - everything in the fridge is complimentary", with 2 fruit juices, water and snacks. Only place in Italy with that! Only place in Italy where we could watch TV in English also. We had a great night, with takeaway kebabs watching English TV till midnight. Breakfast was great, and we met Crystal, the owner's little dog sitting in her handbag on a stool - we nearly dog-napped her. The lady owner was very friendly and helpful with parking the car and catching the train to the Cinque Terra. We had a great time, and wished we could have stayed longer. Dont miss it if going to the Cinque Terra.

I love it, just that I love this hotel.
There is no staff the owner is the staff. Is a really nice young lady and her boyfriend that helps you with everything. Even when you have a car problem with hertz and she helped me to translate and be able to talk to the attendant on the phone.
When I arrive late at night, she just told us to help yourself on the fruit basket. And if we wanted more was always juice and fruit that we could get.
The hotel is really well located. Close to all the nightlife of La Spezia.
The owner has a nice little dog that keeps you company and it is a love one.
When you arrive there on get intimidated by the old building or the elevator, that does not jam. It looks like will but it doesn’t.
Is it almost like a hospital, so clean and smells so good.
Again I love it.

Where to begin with our stay at urban chic in la Spezia? Can't recommend this hotel enough. I've done my share of traveling in Europe and this hotel definitely ranks very highly on my list of outstanding values.

The rooms are very modern, right up there with the coolest boutique hotels in New York or San Francisco. Also very clean, spacious, and bright. Don't let the entry way to the hotel fool you, this place is very modern. Patrizia is a very accommodating owner and host of this "b&b" (more of a boutique hotel) and is very easy to deal with if you book directly with her (we got a better rate this way - just send her an email off her website).

The breakfast provided was also excellent. The location of this hotel is superb, only about a 10-15 minute walk from the main train station and easy access to the Cinque Terre towns. If you're in this area, you really need to stay at Urban Chic. By far, the nicest hotel and best bang for your dollar in La Spezia.

we stayed in La Spezia as a base for the Cinque Terre. This was a better idea then staying in the busy .and overcrowdwd towns on the cinque terre.
Just a 30 min train ride to Riomaggore the 1 1 st town of the 5.
Rooms were modern. With nice little touches. We asked for and got twin beds. Breakfast was adequate. Patrezia the owner was waiting for us when we arrived late, when we missed our train.
She was full of suggestions for helping us with our trip.
When arriving at the station exit lt and gostraight down the slight rt down a pedestrian walkway thru the shops. Turn rt at the rd of the hotel

If the air conditioning would have been working while we were there, I would have given it a 4 star. It is a really great hotel (B&B) with a modern touch. Our room was spacious with enough furniture, good bed and big windows. The bathroom had a nice shower with lots of water pressure and has plenty of space as well. The owner is well organized and have a folder with lots of useful information about either the hotel or attraction around it. For example, it contains the addresses for the nearest bus stop to lerici or portovenere, where you can find free parking space and even the legend for the color coded parking. It was the first time a saw a hotel so well organized.

The owners are not always at the hotel (so the folder is even more valuable), but the can be reach by phone. We were 45 minutes late because we missed one of our train change and the owner was waiting at the bar downstairs and was welcoming and did not seem bothered at all. It is centrally located, close to the pedestrian street with bars and restaurant. The breakfast has lots of option (the croissant are however dried).

The downside: the 3 nights we were there, the air conditioning was not working. It was just uncomfortable sleeping in that heat. We opened the windows, but at 3h55 the outside market, just in front of our room, was starting and was continuously noisy. Note that the market seems to be open most of the days, as it was open the 3 week days we were there, which is good if you want to buy fresh fruit, cheese, bread, etc.

The fact that Urban Chic House is located about halfway between the station and the port of La Spezia makes it a perfect base for excursions to Cinque Terre, Porto Venere etc. The hostess is very informative and provides guidebooks available to her guests which even may be brought along on your trips. The rooms are well furnished and clean. We loved our stay in Urban Chic House and will recommend it to all.

Beautiful boutique hotel or B&B. Extremely new and up to date and a great place to stay for one night before heading to Monterosso. Very good value as the room was large, clean with a scenic balcony overlooking a quiet road. Highly recommended if you want to stay in La Spezia.
