After a day visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa, we headed back to our cruise ship and ventured into La Spezia. It was midday and most shops/restaurants were closing for the afternoon (as many European cities do). Il Trittico was one of the few places that would still serve. It's a small, friendly little place - very busy when we arrived. Many people were sitting outside eating. I noticed that most of them were eating pizza. The restaurant has a wide selection of pizzas to choose from, as well as other Italian dishes, and daily specials. We had a pizza and a bowl of spaghetti Bolognese. Both were delicious ... They also brought fresh bread served in a brown paper bag. Overall, everything was terrific. The staff didn't speak much English but we managed to converse with them. Considering we didn't have many places to choose from that day, we were very pleased this place.
La Spezia is a very pretty little town. Wish we had more time to visit when the shops were open.
