“GREAT hotel---we loved this hotel!”
Reviewed 1 June 2010

What a great hotel! We stayed here for one night before we spent a day in Cinque Terre--we chose to stay here to get a "hotel" experience instead of the many small (yet expensive) inns in Cinque Terre. What a great hotel! The rooms and amenities were all outstanding, and the location (directly across the street from the train station) is very convenient if you plan on visiting Cinque Terre. The breakfast was also very good. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about this hotel--every aspect of it was great. We stayed in 7 different hotels (all 4- and 5-star) during our European vacation and this one was probably our favorite of all.

What a wonderful hotel. At first glance I was not too taken with the area as it is very close to the train station, so no real atmosphere there. But I quickly learned that La Spezia is really only a gateway to the Cinque Terre and surrounds, so you really do want to be close to the train station, as La Spezia itself does not have a great deal to keep you there (though i did experience some wonderful restaurants).
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I think i got a room that has already been renovated for the upcoming upgrade to 4star. I had a HUGE marble bathroom and a large bedroom area with a walk-up wardrobe. It was lovely.
On the downside - as they are doing a reno, there is a little bit of noise (though it was kept to reasonable hours) and the occassional whiff of paint did assail my nose from time to time.
But, a lovely breakfast each morning (they dont really advertise it, but you can ask the lady there for a cappucino) and an aperetif in the bar each night, on my return from one of the gorgeous towns nearby, made me quite happy.
Get in there quick, before they get their 4 star and the prices increase, there is nowhere even close in quality this close to the railway.

Great hotel and only a short walk from La Spezia station. Very easy to reach the Cinque Terre towns (only a 10 minute train ride) and also walking distance to great shops and restaurants in La Spezia. Would definitely stay here again next time.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and found it to be very comfortable, very clean, and with a good bathroom. Given also that it is only 100 meters from the rail station connecting all the towns on the Cinque Terre coast, it is also extremely convenient. The hotel serves a very generous breakfast, and has very comfortable lounge areas for guests to enjoy a quiet drink from the well stocked bar at the end of a day's hiking. La Spezia is a lovely little city, and this hotel is well placed to restaurants, shops, and the port area.

This hotel was recommended by friends so after checking the good reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked two double rooms of the hotel. Being so close to the railway station made it easy to the hotel on arrival in La Spezia as well as catching the train to the Cinque Terre towns.

We found the rooms spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable with good size bathroom. The tarrif included a buffet breakfast which had a reasonable range of food.

The hotel has a good reception and bar area. We loved the complimentary savouries and biscuits served with drinks, and was a popular meeting place at the end of the day for fellow travellers.

The girl at reception was very helpful and friendly especially at checkout when we were in a rush to catch the train to our next destination. We were quite anxious that we might be late but the reception staff remained helpful and courteous as ever, arranging a calm efficient departure, and we easily caught our train with a couple of minutes to spare. Very professional, making our stay a pleasure.

Recommend this hotel for its location, comfortable amenities, good staff and value for money. We would stay here again on any future visit to Cinque Terre.

My sister and I stayed at Hotel Firenze for 2 nights. Only 1 block from central train station with many restaurants and stores within short walking distance. We spent our days in Cinque Terre walking the trails and towns, and came back to the hotel in the evening. Hotel lobby has several beautiful, adjacent sitting rooms where one can relax and visit with other guests. There is also a room with a computer for internet access (there is a charge for this). There is a Happy Hour each evening with appetizers. Our first room was in the back portion of the hotel. It was beautifully furnished, newer carpet and bathroom. Unfortunately, the weekday morning traffic was quite loud for a light sleeper, so we asked for a quieter room the 2nd night. The hotel staff graciously moved our luggage to a new room during the day while we were in Cinque Terre. Upon our return, we were given our new room key to a much quieter room. Spacious (by European standards) with an armoir and spacious bathroom. This room appeared to have older carpet and bathroom, but still very clean and adequate. Also very quiet (no street noise). The breakfast was the best we had during our 2 week trip to Italy. There was three 6' tables covered with pastries, breads, fruit, scrambled eggs, hardboiled eggs, meats, juices, coffee, milk and tea. Beautifully appointed diining room with tablecloths and china. We highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Cinque Terre (only a 9 minute train ride from La Spezia).

Great location for the cinque terra. It is about 50 steps from the La Spezia train station. There is a square near the hotel with a pizza place open until midnight and an ATM. Our room was showing wear and tear but it was clean. Nice updated bathroom with a good shower. Staff was OK.
