We have stayed here twice & both times exceeded our expectations. Amazing place, very good to explore Cinque Terre. David & Papa will go out of their way to really make you feel as part of their Italian family! Don't miss dinner if Papa is cooking!! 5* breakfast. Amazing house!

I can't say enough about our host David, just the nicest guy. His suggestions for dinner and hiking were spot on. His father's homemade pie alone is worth the visit, not to mention the homemade apple and kiwi marmalades at breakfast, and he even presses his own olive oil! It was nice to be served individually, rather than the standard stale buffet breakfasts we received elsewhere. The location is quiet and the atmosphere is homey. It's a great kick off spot for exploring Cinque Terre - there's a trail at the end of the driveway that we followed all the way to Monarola and were able to take the train to all of the towns and back to La Spezia.

We stayed in Locanda del Papa in April. David was great and responsive to our emails. The facilities/rooms are very basic but the host makes up for it with his attention and help. He went out of his way to help us when we had car issues.

If you enjoy meeting with locals and living in a semi-rual, unpretentious spot, Locanda del Papa is an excellent choice. The room and bath was spotless to start and cleaned daily. Breakfast on the outdoor terrace w/ juice, coffee and bread overlooking the hillsides was delightful. David, his wife and father, the owners, were extremely attentive. If you have the chance to have dinner prepared by the papa and family, don't hesitate. La Spezia and the towns of the Cinque Terre are great fun, close and lively but I enjoyed knowing that the tranquility of Locanda del Papa awaited at the end of the day. A car definitely makes everything easier, but on several of the nights, my wife and I walked to the local restaurants for typically excellent Italian food. Just a great spot for those seeking the delicious taste of Italy.

Living in this hotel you will have something of living at your friends' house experience. It's located on the hills above La Spezia, in a quiet area, more like a village. It was a bit hard to find the place even with GPS, so I suggest to print a detalied map beforehand. Location is very good, though, once you know how to find it, I think it's just perfect for exploring 5 Terre region. There is a free parking available. The house is very cozy, with beautiful authentic interiors. The hosts are very kind and polite and willing to help. The room we stayed in was a bit small, but averall very nice and well decorated. There were a few drawbacks, though. It was pretty cold and wet outside, and though the heating was turned on, at times we still were cold in the room, too. Then, the room is not soundproof, so if there are late guests at the restaurant, it may disturb your sleep. You can only pay in cash, so be sure to withdraw neede amount. Overall impression is very nice, it is a perfect place to stay at.

What a gem! A small farmhouse with delightful b and b accomodation run by Guiliano and his son. Although not offering dinner during our stay we were introduced to marvellous places nearby, some a short walk away. Our bedroom (a typical farmhouse room) was clean and very comfortable with a prefectly adequate but small shower and wc en suite. Breakfasts on the terrace outside were great with only the sounds of birds. What makes this place special is the isolation, deep in the woods surrounded by tiny plots of fruit and vegetables. There is no traffic noise, no street lights and no late night disco! Guilliano is a charming host who will advise on local transport and facilities. This is one of the few Argritorisimo's which could be done by public transport. Take care when driving, its not easy to find but its worth it!
