I was booking on very short notice. In Portofino, there were few options. I did not really want to stay in Santa Marguerite (good call), so Eden was pretty much the only play in town. Unless you want to splurge on Splendido for EUR1K/night. When Feruccio, the owner showed me my room, it was disappointing to see that the bathroom was in the corridor. I think last time I went so rustic that was right after college. Feruccio assured me that the bathroom was 'Privato' and just for my use. OK. So why do I give the place 5 stars ? Because in Portofino, who cares. You want a clean and air-conditioned place to stay. In my case, it was nice to come back every day to my nice little room without a bathroom that was just the right temperature. I think they had some kind of air purifier attached, because the room had an electric feel to it. My window opened up to a beautiful Saint Martin Church, Portofino, and Castle on top of a mountain. Feruccio gave me just the right directions. Breakfast had some nice pasty and creamy yogurts. And Portofino was magical.

We arrived extremely late after having great difficulty getting transport from the train station at Santa margherita ligure at 2200 and the owner, although having been put out was polite. The room was small but comfy and clean. Breakfast was good and the setting charming. The owner was very helpful with finding out train timetables etc as well. Definitely a bit fawlty towers but a great experience none the less and good value for money. A lovely area and well worth a visit. We will be back and will stay longer.

Now I know that I was only paying $230 a night at a Portfino hotel so I couldn't expect too much, but the hotel really was a disaster - to the manager (or owner?) who was very short with us to the many stairs we had to lug our cases up because of no lift. The rooms need a facelift as they are very tired, and they are very, very small! Our view was of the roof. You cannot see the water from here. And we had to ask for the AC to be turned on and the room never did cool down. Again, the price was right for the area, but wish the hotel would have been a bit better.

Easy place to find, we were lucky to get a car park in the local car parking building, good accommodation. bfast was all that we needed.
we were there for 3 days , did the walks, lots of great restaurant, but more over the location and atmosphere of the village is real great.

Room Tip: we were, downstairs, still quiet and easy to get bags to /from

Portofino is a fantastic place and the Hotel Eden has a great location. This hotel is dated and very tired-it was somewhat clean but just very dingy .. Federucci the owner...is somewhat helpful. There where ants all over ( on the terrace, in the bathroom as well as in the sleeping area) and in need of an exterminator. The breakfast was a waste..go outside and buy a croissant and espresso you will be better off. Portofino is very pricey so this B level hotel is very expensive for what it is. Would recommend staying in Santa Margarita or Rapello and day tripping it into Portofino, if staying here two days is plenty.

Room Tip: We where in room #7 with the terrace which was ok...that being said ...thank God we were not in one...

There are very few places to stay in Portofino and most of them are very expensive. Hotel Eden is a very good value for money (for Portofino) and I was glad to return there. The owner Ferruccio was kind and nice as usually. I am happy to recommend this hotel.

We arrived in Portofino without any reservation. Luckily we got a room in this nice hotel in the middle of everything. You can really stay 3-4 nights on the price of one night in neighboring hotels. 100 meters to the harbour and plenty of choices to park your car.

We did very nice walking tours around hills and forests. I doubt if You can more beautiful routes anywhere in southern Europe. Even if the hotels in Portofino are very expensive, food in the restaurants isnt that costly.
