“Locally owned, very hospitable Inn Keepers and Clean!”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

Stayed here while I was traveling in N. Italy in late September, 2013. Inn Keepers were incredibly nice, knowledgable about the area and hospitable. Excellent breakfast with local pastries, stratas, cereal, fruit, and excellent coffee. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived, so they gave us another room with a walk- out patio with a spectacular view. They were still in the process of re-doing the rooms, and ours was on a floor they hadn't gotten to yet. Nonetheless, it was clean and comfortable (and we were really only there to sleep anyway. Had wi-fi access. I would definitely return to stay here again.

Room Tip: Upper floors had been remodeled.

Rapallo is a perfect spot for visiting both Portofino (by boat) and Cinque Terre (by train). The Hotel Astoria is perfectly located within Rapallo, right on the center of the bay front, near both dining and transportation. The rooms are not large (15 by 15), but are clean, efficient, and comfortable, with good space and appointments in the bath. Rooms with an adjoining terrace are special bargains. The prices are reasonable and the owners really understand what it means to be a host and hostess. They were exceptionally gracious and helpful in every regard, even inviting us to a local piano concert and giving us spare train tickets. Terrific find!

Room Tip: First floor on the left corner (facing the bay) with a large, adjoining terrace from which to enjoy...

Service was in its best. The hotel owner was very kind and offered big help. The location is great, close to all the action. Breakfast was good and the room was fair. There are lots of places to dine out there.

This charming privately owned hotel is very well situated: you have a beautiful view to the sea, you are near everything, but away from the noice of the seafront restaurants.
We had a room with a little balcony to the sea. Great! Room was small, but you don't need more! The hotel owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurants recommended just right, the shops, too. You can't have a more caring and friendly service! You really feel welcome!
Breakfast was included in the price; a buffet and scrambled eggs. Fine.
You could get a parking place in front of the hotel for 10 euros.
We were more than satisfied and will certainly return, if visiting beautiful Rapallo again.

Did you know that rapallo is a 45 minute train ride from genoa, I didn't, so this hotel was only booked in error, nevertheless it was a very beautiful room, that took some of the sting out of the unforeseen trip, right on the waterfront, sea views, had tea at a nice pizzeria nearby, my mistake should not be viewed as their review, lovely building and room, slightly larger than usual euro size

Dear Guest,
first of all I would like to thank you for spending some of your spare time in writing about your experience at our hotel.
Even if booked by mistake, we are very glad you appreciated the room you were assigned and the location of the hotel. As you mentioned we are located just in front of the sea and only 5 minutes away from railway station. My personal hope is to have the pleasure of welcome you again at Hotel Astoria (this time on purpose!) so as to make you better explore our area and its facilities, maybe on a boat trip on a summer sunny day.
In the meanwhile I send you our best regards from Rapallo

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Astoria - a decision initially based on TripAdvisor reviews...and they were absolutely spot-on! We stayed three nights initially but enjoyed it so much, we came back for another night on the way back through to the Italian/French Riviera.
We could not fault this hotel...everything about it was just perfect. The location is excellent - right on the promenade, close to the shopping district, the restaurants, the marina and so on. Completely central yet incredibly quiet.
Bus stops nearby if you want to catch a bus to Santa Margherita and Portofino, which are only about 5-8 km away and worth a day trip.
The rooms are spacious, recently renovated, simply decorated yet elegant and classic. Impeccably clean and well presented, crisp white bedlinen and good WiFi in the rooms at no extra charge. Bathrooms are a good size, the shower was excellent, and heated towel rails are great during Winter to keep the bathroom a nice warm temperature.
Breakfast offered and included in our rate was excellent - a wide selection of cold and hot choices - along with a variety of teas and coffees.
Parking was important to us on this trip as we had a special car to look after and we were given absolutely amazing service and care! A parking spot directly outside the hotel was reserved for us and the staff would come out and help direct us in and out of the hotel into the traffic.
What made our stay so much more exceptional were all the staff! Alessandro and his wife Sara are obviously very passionate about their customers and made us feel almost like part of the family. They greeted us with such wonderful smiles and were genuinely interested in our experience of the hotel and of Rapallo. They were able to make excellent recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing, where to get laundry done, where to get my nails done (very important!) and even went so far as to recommend special driving routes in the area for my husband - which he enjoyed very much! Alessandro and Sara, together with Paolo (who makes the best cappuccino!) and the entire team of staff at Hotel Astoria truly make the hotel a very special place to stay and we would highly recommend! We hope to one day come back to Hotel Astoria...and hopefully soon!

Room Tip: Room 204 - recently renovated - on the second floor - has a nice view out to the sea, looks right ov...

My wife and I arrived in Rapallo by car. We didn't even know about Rapallo when we drove down from Milan with plans to stay in one of the Cinque Terre towns for some hiking. But we immediately loved Rapallo and struck up a conversation with a local resident while we were walking around. We asked her for a hotel recommendation and she suggested we should stay at the Astoria.

We were delighted with the friendly service and the newly redecorated room with a big window overlooking the waterfront. The shower was ultra-modern and the wi-fi was excellent. Breakfast was the best "included" breakfast we found on our trip. The hotel owner, Alessandro, gave us directions for getting to Cinque Terre, Portofino, good restaurants, and the local shops. We stayed two days and used Rapallo as our gateway to Cinque Terre hiking. This visit was a highlight of our 2 weeks in Italy and we look forward to returning to the Astoria again.

Dear Guests,

first of all we would like to thank you for dedicating some of your time in writing such a good review about us. Beside thanking also the lady from Rapallo who recomended you our hotel, we are very glad you appreciated the room, the hotel location and our breakfast, which we try to enrich and improve everyday, according to our Guests tastes and suggestions. As you mentioned Rapallo is a good gateway to the Cinque Terre and our hotel is quite close to the railway station, where you can catch a train to get there. Suggestions about restaurants are very important in our opinion, as we feel responsible for our Guests' satisfaction also outside of the hotel.
We strongly hope to have the chance of meeting you again at Astoria Hotel and in the meanwhile we send you our best regards from Rapallo.
