“Excellent location, what a view! ”
Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

A great hotel for the price, the location is excellent! I highly recommend the sea view rooms, for the small amount extra you pay, the views of the castle right in front of you, particularly at night, are priceless! The hotel is also in a good position to walk along the promenade which is lined with restaurants and bars. I stayed in a single room, it was very clean. The bathroom and especially the shower were small, but that seems to be the norm in European hotels! One complaint, my room was hot and although there was an air conditioner on the wall there was no signs of a remote, switch or instructions to use it, which made it a bit hard to sleep. The buffet breakfast however was excellent! A combination of European breakfast foods alongside bacon, eggs and toast was fantastic! For the reasonably low price of the hotel, I would definitely recommend visitors to Rapallo to stay here.

We selected this hotel based on location and it did not disappoint, the rooms are clean and offer great views of the harbour and castle. Breakfast was ok. Highly recommended for value for money.Parking could be tight in summer.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with harbour views, well worth in, particularly in summer.

Loved this place! It is right on top of the 16th century castelo which juts out into the sea. I paid extra (10€) for a ‘sea view’ and what a view it is. Private balcony over-looking the castle. The hotel itself is wonderful, clean and modern throughout, decent amount of space, AC, lift, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridge. The included breakfast is substantial: yogurts, cereals, breads, juice, fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs and bacon. Rapallo was not my first choice for a base for my five nights on the Italian Riviera but I’m so glad that this seemed to be the best hotel deal (it was) so I decided to stay in Rapallo. It’s more of a working class/ family destination than its neighbor Portofino but I loved it the minute I got off the train. Large enough to have a nice sea side promenade (with the castle), plenty of boats (sailboats, small yachts), lots of restaurant choices, several shopping streets (with real stores, not just tourist places, and not a Hermes in sight). I’ve often wondered if booking through booking sites rather than with directly with the hotel gets you a less desirable room but I really no longer think so and this place proves it – room 412 has to be one of the best rooms in the hotel. 88€/single with sea view

We spent 3 nights here in early October and really enjoyed it. Very friendly helpful staff, exceptional location and hearty breakfasts with freshly squeezed orange juice. Wonderful views over castle and esplanade from cosy balcony on seaview side - could sit there for hours nursing a scotch just taking in the beautiful and expansive views. Not modern by any means but clean and comfortable - even had a long sofa in the room - with loads of character and, dare I say, a quaint faded elegance. Handy access to ferries and station - both an easy walk - with good supermercato just a few blocks away. Reception open all hours. We are often highly critical of hotels but this one was just lovely and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Highly recommended but make sure you book a seaside room even if it costs a bit extra.

A fantastic room and stay. Very convenient location for walks in the town and along the Lido. The view was 'bellissimo' and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a great meal of local seafood at the restaurant. A truly memorable travel experience and we would love to return.

Our group of three couples reserved the Italia e Lido for two nights of our three plus weeks in Italy. By consensus we agreed that this was one of our favorites (of the 9 hotels during our trip).

The hotel has a beautiful setting, overlooking the water and the castle ( lighted at night and even more beautiful.) Although parking is limited, we were directed to park in a designated spot right in front of the hotel and there was no charge. We were expecting to pay 15 Euro per night for garage parking. The location is very convenient to walk to the ferry landing for trips to Santa Margherita and Portofino.

The hotel has a very nice restaurant where we enjoyed dinner the first night. The next night the hotel staff recommended a local restaurant within easy walking distance, da Mario. There were lots of locals and the food was good. One member of our group said it was one of the more reasonably priced restaurants of our trip.

The breakfast was really good. There were lots of choices - eggs, meats, cheeses fruit, yogurt, cappuccinos and an outstanding chocolate croissant that received rave reviews.

The rooms were larger by small Italian hotel standards and they had great lighting. The bathrooms were also more spacious than most on our trip. One couple mentioned noise from people taking loud/partying outside the room on one night of our stay.

The staff was welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: The rooms with a seaview are worth the extra expense. You can hear the water lapping outside your wi...

Good value for money and friendly staff. We got a room with sea-front view and could enjoy the view from our balcony while having a limoncino. Suprisingly good breakfast for a Italian hotel. Only big thing we didn't like was the dirty floors in our room, but otherwise the room was tidy.
