I tend to only review places I really love but this one warrants a review just to save other people from this awful place. At first glance you think, wow that place is really cute with a great people-watching patio! Great drink and food list at reasonable prices, it's a win-win! First, they got the drink order wrong which wasn't a huge deal at all. I have worked in many restaurants and also know sometimes things get lost in translation. Then our food came. After 2 weeks of eating Italian food, we were really craving a burger and fries. We ordered a burger and fries and were told they had no fries. This should have been our cue to leave but we were desperate for a burger! The burger came and was sopping with ketchup, mustard and mayo and it was clearly a frozen meat patty. My boyfriend picked up his burger, took a bite and the bun completely started falling apart like a cracker (it was clearly not very fresh). After the 2nd bite, the thing was a mess. I told him to let the server know so he could get new bread. The server never came to check on us so he took the burger inside. He came back out and said they were putting it on new bread. Someone came out and asked him if focaccia was ok. It was still messy but not as bad as the original bread. Part of this was probably due to the overuse of condiments but the focaccia definitely held up better. After finishing our meal and waiting for the check, my bf finally went to the counter to pay. The guy had the nerve to charge him for not one but 2 burgers! He said since he took a bite out of the first and they threw it away, he had to pay for it. He said it wasn't the bread, it was HIS fault. $12 euros for 2 burgers that were super nasty. I couldn't believe it. After working in the restaurant biz in very touristy areas, I just couldn't believe someone had the audacity to treat a customer like that. Luckily every other place next to it was fantastic so we didn't let these morons ruin the beginning of our stay in Rapallo. But I couldn't let other people get duped by this place. Go to Taverna Azzurro down the street, get the Portofino style lasagne, experience a wonderful family-run restaurant and have an amazing meal to remember!
