There was very little to complain about at this traditional hotel. The service is superb, the room was very comfortable, the pool area well kept and there were always plenty of towels and sunloungers. The weather was excellent so we spent most of our time outdoors, the bars and the outdoor restaurant facilities are all very pleasant. The pool is large and quite deep, it was not very warm but very welcoming and refreshing after a day exploring the beautiful surrounding areas. Families with young children might be better served with the hotel's good beachside facilities just across the road. In my opinion Santa Margherita is a beautiful little town with a bustling harbour and the hotel is well positioned to enjoy all the facilities. I would be more than happy to find myself back at this lovely hotel to enjoy a relaxing and pampered holiday.

We stayed here early June of this year. We had a very nice room, very clean, with a balcony that overlooked the pool and a little of the ocean. The pool was not heated so I did not swim in it, but it was smaller than anticipated from the pictures online. The view is beautiful though. They have shutters that close for night as well, allowing the room to become pitch black. The american breakfast was very good as well, a very nice buffet and the best of all of the places we stayed. we had a couples massage in the spa which was very relaxing and nice. The bar at the hotel was also very good, and the bartenders very social. The hotel was very professional, very clean and very nice. Can't go wrong here.

The service is as good as it gets.
The hotel did stop it's prime days in the the mid 60's.

If you like that kind of look, this is the place.

If you like to be surrounded by guest over 75 with botox, this is the place.

The restaurant is average, the breakfast is average.

If you have kids under 10 - I wouldn't recommend this.

We just got back from an unforgettable stay in Santa Margherita. The Miramare was a nice hotel with great views and large rooms. We had two spacious connected rooms and the friendly staff made us fell at home. Our kids loved the salt water pool and also the beach right across the street. Breakfast at the terrace was a great way to start the day.
Santa Margherita is a charming riviera town with great shops and good restaurants. It's a great place to stay as you will be close to many riviera attractions. We took the train to Cinque Terre and then explore it by hiking and boat rides. We also took the boat to Portofino and St Frutuoso and spent wonderful days on both places. The trail from the hotel to Portofino is an easy and pleasant walk and shouldn't be missed. Four days went by very fast and we will return for sure.

I have been at the Miramare many times but my last stay was probably the worst so far. The Hotel is beautiful and I love the pool area but there used to be a fantastic buffet type lunch on the weekends with BBQ and all and that no longer exists. Instead they have a pretty basic, not at all exciting menu and tired service. We stayed there for our 40th birthday and in the morning I asked for breakfast (included in the absurdly high room price). I asked them if they had croissants and I got some very small, obviously previously frozen stuff, which they charged my 11 euros for! The bread rolls were also the frozen type and there was a lot of packaged stuff in my 'continental breakfast' bread basket. This is from the region where fresh focaccia should be everywhere!! I know it was Sunday but I expect a 5 star hotel to bake their own goodies. The only thing that works well still is the bellboy, concierge and car service. But then, you also pay extra for parking....not really worth the price but it is still an easy place to stay if you are in the area and you want a big hotel with a pool. Pity about the service.

Room Tip: If you are paying for a room with a view ask for one on the lower floors with a balcony, it is amazi...

We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; and, it is with regret, that we learn of your discomfort regarding the breakfast and service.
Please allow us to express our sincerest apologies.

We appreciate TripAdvisor as a valuable forum for travellers to share their opinions and travel experiences. Nevertheless a few clarifications for all other clients need to be outlined:
- Our Property is a 4 star Superior Hotel and not a 5 star.
- BBQ buffet has started on the 1st of July and is open daily (as in the past) not only on week-ends. Lunch is served at our sea view “Marconi” terrace. Beautiful spot and highly appreciated by our clientele. The appetizer are on the buffet and a choice from the daily “Chef”‘s suggestion is at disposal.
- Our Brioches (we have not croissants) are not frozen; nor is our bread.
Also the focaccia is served with breakfast bread basket.
We have checked among our breakfast staff, and we can confirm that there are
not extra charged for additional brioches. The extra cost is certainly not to ascribe to
the brioches.
- We reckon that our rates reflect and are according to other property in the area.
On our opinion, certainly not an “absurdly high room price”. This can be easily checked
prior placing a reservation.

Of all the hotels in which I have stayed in Europe, this is within the top five, comparable to the Georges Cinq in Paris, the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace in Versailles, or the Aldrovandi Palace in Rome. Old world elegance, flawless unobtrusive service. We stayed in a room overlooking the ocean, opening antique shutters in the morning to greet the dawn while having breakfast. Our room had pale blue silk on the walls, well weathered marquetry flooring, and a huge marble bathroom. Just lovely. It is almost impossible to match the ambience of this beautiful hotel when the view it commands is factored in.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ocean side are wonderful.

We stayed here in May for the wedding of a close friend. The hotel is in a fantastic location and the staff are exceptionally friendly. It's close enough to walk to the town but just far enough away that you're not in the middle of things.

It's a touch on the expensive side but given the type of hotel it is that's probably to be expected.

Room Tip: The non sea view rooms look onto a garden (our did anyway) and the smell from the honeysuckle plants...
