“A wonderful slice of history and hospitality in Citta Alta.”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

La Torre della Meridiana is not your ordinary hotel or b&b. you are truly the guests in the home of a family which has called the tower home for several hundred years.

Your host Marco is warm and welcoming. The rooms ( two doubles ) are clean and full of antiques. He has plenty of info about bergamo available for you.

It is a pleasant, quiet place with views over the old town and over the lowlands below. It is less than 100 meters from the funiculare top station and close to the main Piazza. On via Gambito are several good restaurants and traditional bars.

Breakfast is very nice and the coffee excellent. A unique stay with a lovely host. Sorry we were only there one night. Do remember that this is up four flights of stone stairs. Also, be mindful that this the home of your host and his family- treat it as so and enjoy.

The hotel is located just in the heart of medieval part of Bergamo city (very close to the Cathedral). The location is very convenient (only 50 meters from cable car station and about 25-minute way by bus from Milano Bergamo airport). This is not real hotel, it`s a family residence with private rooms giving for renting. The owner of the hotel is very intelligent, nice and hospitable person.
The totel is located in ancient tower that makes the stay here very romantic and unforgettable.
I spent the New Year 2014 night in Bergamo and would strongly recommend everybody who likes unusual trips to stay in this hotel too.

Great place, atmosphere, like a house of good friends. Comfortable rooms, great beds, right in the heart of the city. Wonderful service! Located near the main street of the Cita Alta, full of restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Try it! Definetely!

Everything that the other reviewers have said is true: the house is lovely, the location is excellent, the hosts are supreme. Marco made me feel very welcome throughout my week-long stay and was always helpful, sharing a homey feeling and very good recommendations. (In contrast, my brother and his wife spent two days each at the Hotel Piazza Vecchia and GombitHotel, and all the people working at the reception desks at both those places were aloof at best.) I strongly recommend the B&B La Torre della Meridiana.

Also I loved the city of Bergamo (upper and lower), walking in the surrounding hills, and the day trips to nearby places.

If you're looking for a bed and breakfast with extremely friendly hosts, great location, nicely decorated rooms with comfy beds and good breakfast this is your spot! As a bonus you will get great views over the rooftops of the old city. The house itself is wonderful, a true history lovers heaven! I would recommend this B&B without no hesitation - we had a great stay!

I just stayed one night, but it was a great B&B: excellent location, very friendly and helpful owners, rooms clean and comfortable. It's not easy to find, so have a good look at the map before you arrive.
