Lovely and genuine host, homely, super service, superb decor, quiet but central, clean. This place will help you to smile and sleep. Be nice to the neighbours and they will be nice to you! Our room was a bit dark and there was a lack of electricity power points + weak internet signal, which isn't such a bad thing (apart from when you rely on wi-fi for maps)!
I'd give 4.4/5! I hope a good review won't make our next stay expensive!

Room Tip: A choice of street view or sun! Both have their plus points.

You immediately fall in love with Bergamo Alta, once you have been there. Stayed authentic without Burger Kings and Mac Donalds. Beautifull churches, houses and places and lovely small shops. If you like "authentic", you should definitely stay in L'Angolo del Poeta (in Bergamo Bassa), runned by owners who like the personal touch. You feel very welcome and they can help you with all kind of information. They have a taxiservice to Bergamo Station and Bergamo airport and last but not least the atmosphere in this building of the fifteenth century is very pleasant.
We will certainly come back! Mr and Mrs Hermens, Holland

My wife and I booked at L'angolo del Poeta for three nights during the month of February. Since it was our first visit in Bergamo, Paolo (the owner) was very kind to help us with all, such as places to eat, sight-seeings etc. He was very kind, polite and helpful. The place is very close to the old town (citta alta) around 15-20 minutes walking distance. On the way, you can pass by many shopping streets (via T. Tasso, G. Verdi, XX Settembre) and shop or enjoy coffee/food. L' Angolo del Poeta is a magnificent place, aged around 500 years with beautiful architecture and amazing old pieces of furniture with which the rooms are decorated. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, with private bathroom and toiletries. There was heating and air-condition (for the warm days), as well as a mini-fridge equipped with still and sparking water, soft drinks, beers and snacks. The breakfast was good and could be served within the room or out in the hall-way. I really can't find anything wrong about this place. Thank you Paolo!

Stayed here between the 29th Dec. and the 5th Jan. Had a comfy room, well heated. Paolo the guy who runs the place is a very nice and helpful gentleman. The lady who prepares breakfast is also a very nice person and has a nice character. Price paid for the room and the 3euros for breakfast were reasonable. Will recommend this place to who ever wants to stay in a family run with a friendly atmosphere hotel.

The B&B is too pricey for the value it offers. The pro is its retro furnishings and the atmosphere of an old palazzo it offers. Yet, the room I was given was dark, cold and noisy. It had no door separating it from a glazed loggia and therefore there was a cold air as well as the noise of the stream constantly coming straight into the room. I was freezing. It was December. The heating was off for almost all the time and the heating regulators were missing probably on purpose to prevent the guests from turning up the heat. The bathroom connected with a room through this loggia was cold too. There was practically no bathroom amenities except of a liquid soap that was diluted with water. Breakfast in a typical Italian style was really poor ( only cakes and pastry). They charge you additional 3 euro if you want to eat some ham and cheese which is a rip off considering the overall price. Breakfast is eaten in a reception room at one table in other guests' company, which has been embarassing for everyone. The new city center as well as train station can be reached in 20 minutes walk, but to get to the main city attraction- Bergamo's historical center, one has to take a bus. If you want to enjoy Bergamo, find a nice and cozy hotel in Citta' Alta. It will cost less and at least you will get a decent breakfast. Not mentioning the atmosphere of Citta Alta' which is priceless!!

This romantic B&B feels like stepping back into history, with its tiny courtyard, carefully preserved architecture, and a river/small stream in the back. Our room was very large, tastefully and uniquely decorated. A nice touch was the coffee in our room, and having breakfast brought up to the room, very convenient.
The lovely, hospitable owner spoke fluent English and made us feel truly welcome.
Location-wise, hotel is within 15-20 minute walking distance to the funicular going up to Bergamo Alta. A supermarket and a bakery next door to hotel were very handy for a quick snack.
Great value for money and a lovely place.

A friendly welcome, a beautiful spacious room, an excellent location and a real feeling of being a _guest_.

The room was simply and elegantly furnished, very clean and had some lovely homely touches -- a pair of soft dressing gowns, a corkscrew, nice cups for tea/coffee and an affordable mini bar (surprise! Cold mineral water is a very fair 50c).

An Italian breakfast on the terrace or at the dinner table consists of coffee, juice, biscuits, cake, yoghurt and fresh bread and jam.

Slightly tricky to find! Make sure you've got a map, there's only a small brass sign above the doorbell.
