We went there on a rainy Tuesday night, to celebrate my birthday. The venue was empty, there were max 5 people apart from us, and a family with kids left just as we sat. The locale is very nice, white and blue ribbons everywhere, Bavarese decorations, wooden tables and chairs and even a couple of long wooden tables with planks for sitting in the middle. Very traditional make-believe. Kind-of-traditional Bavarese music playing softly.

Only one waiter was on duty for the night, which was quiet enough for him to manage everything in reasonable times. He was kind and polite, and looked friendly but not intrusive. The place is rather small (seats 50 or so total), and can get noisy quite easily, as was the case (one of the other tables was very loud). Not a big issue though, unless one is out on a very romantic night, and despite the noise we managed to talk without having to raise our voices.

We ordered a Bauernschmaus for two, which is a large platter with 4 wurst, 2 knodels, 2 smoked pork chops, red crauts, white crauts and some potatoes. As a side to share, a rosti, water and Kapuziner Wiess beer for drinks. It all came to 35€, which was about right, considering how generous the portions were.

Moreover, the meal was delicious: after having visited (and eaten in) Germany on a monthly basis for the last year, I can say this venue is very close to the mark, as far as the authenticity of the food goes. The only flaws were the knodels, just slightly dry and chewy, and topped with parmesan cheese, which to be honest spoiled them rather than adding. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

As a last note, it must be said that, although being located in a lovely setting, it's a very central pedestrians-only area, so the place has no parking of its own, and the nearest parking spaces could be rather far for the lazier of you (about 10' walk distance), especially on a rainy night such as the one we went.

Overall, very nice place, one I will definitively return to, and one I definitively recommend. Prosit!

Lovely little restaurant serving great German/Austrian food at reasonable prices.

Tucked away inside a courtyard of some sort, this cheerful and charming, Bavarian inspired restaurant was such a change from the normal restaurant.

We ordered the Spaetzel, the Rosti fry-up with 2 eggs and speck ham and the venison with mashed potatoes. Everything was really nice and service was wonderful!

Dessert was equally yummy, Black Forest cake, whih was moist, creamy and with dark, plump cherries. Lovely end to a lvely meal.
