“Breathtaking!”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

This hotel was amazing. The property is family owned. The service was exceptional. It is literally nestled away in the mountains way above Lake Bellagio. I had rented a car, and drove to the hotel. The hotel does have a garage on premises for parking. The drive was beautiful, however, the mountains were very steep and the roads were extremely narrow. Sometimes there would be only room for one vehicle. Guardrails were infrequent. However, it was definitely worth it, and I would do it again. For those who are driving to Bellagio, there is an auto ferry that crosses the river, which would allow you to avoid the mountainous roads. I took it on the way out. Although it was less scenic than the mountains, it saved a tremendous amount of driving time.

The room that I had stayed in was a suite. The room was open air style - no walls, except for the bathroom, of course. It consisted of a living area, dining area, kitchenette, and sleeping quarters. The room was quite spacious. All of the rooms on the property face Lake Bellagio. I cannot begin to explain how beautiful it is to sit on your private terrace and watch the sun rise or set over this lake. It was phenomenal. The hotel also has a negative edge swimming pool; several lounging areas; and a shuttle that provides transportation to and from town.

Breakfast was included with the room. It was served in the hotel's dining room, and consisted of fresh breads, pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, yogurts, coffee, wide assortment of teas, fruit juices, etc. It was a nice array of choices. However, for dinner and supper, you were on your own. There were many that chose to prepare their meals in their rooms. However, Bellagio has several restaurants to choose from offering a variety of foods, as well as prices.

My stay in Bellagio was so relaxing. I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: All rooms face the lake. Absolutely beautiful!

I booked Borgo Le Terrazze after a thorough research of reviews and comments, which were all exalted, and the hotel exceeded my expectations in many ways. Summarily, I think it is one of the best hotels to stay when it comes to an overall value, provided you have a car.

Speaking of car, I'll start with location. I join the chorus of those overtaken by the view from the balcony on Lake Como (Lario) and Bellagio in the distance. It is simply breathtaking; perhaps it was the best view I had ever seen from the hotel room - so expansive, magical, levitating. Indeed it seemed as one could pass countless hours just on the balcony, marveling at the sun rolling over the sky and coloring the lake and the mountains differently every moment, changing views as in kaleidoscope, with crescendo of the sunset glory dissipating into blinking lights of the dusk and finally ending the show by human lights disappearing into the darkness of the night, with moonlight pouring over the silver of the water. The view was simply addictive, and it's worth coming back just for that alone.

The exceptional thing about the hotel is that it does not rest on its famous views laurels. The hotel was very comfortable. The room was very large and simply but conveniently furnished, with a great big comfortable bed, roomy closet, generously equipped kitchennette with a small fridge and a coffee-maker. The beautiful elegant bathroom had a huge bathtub, everything was sparkling and perfumed. Cable internet was fast in the room, and I could finally do all the accumulated e-mail and other Internet stuff while in the hotel. You get the cable for 10 euro deposit at the front desk which is returned when you return the cable.

The only drawback in my room was that it was rather close to the road; although it was 15 meters above, the noise from passing cars was still laudable. At night the balcony door needs to be closed to keep the noise away.

I did not take breakfast at the hotel (not included in the rate) as I preferred to eat at my balcony, using the marvelous kitchenette. I noticed that the breakfast area was rather a bit crowded, but perhaps guests enjoyed themselves. The view from the breakfast area was the same as from my room, so I did not feel tempted by it.

The location is about 6 km away and uphill from Bellagio - it is certainly not a walking distance. I had a car and in October it was easy to go to Bellagio and park there, for a substantial rate, though. But all was worry-free at that time of the year. I was coming from Lugano side and it was easy to reach Bellagio taking a ferry with the car from Cadenabbia, 12 euro for a medium-size sedan (I had Fiat Bravo), it takes 10 min a trip which is by itself absolutely magnifiscent - to arrive in Bellagio by boat was one of my most fortunate ideas. The 10 minutes on the ferry was a holiday by itself, with Bellagio growing nearer and nearer, showing itself in its charming splendor. It reminded me so much of Portofino, and the only difference were the ducks in the Lake's waters! The tiny port of Bellagio is so cute, yet everything is so immaculate and exact, very organized and civilized. I fell in love with Bellagio from the first sight.

The hotel is another 10 minutes drive from the port, easy to find with a GPS. The way up is a little dizzying but I managed without a problem. There Signora Elena met me, it was a very courteous and hospitable welcome. Service is very friendly and attentive, and the hotel's layout is easy - transporting bags from the car to my room was easy with an elevator. I found everything very smartly designed.

The garage is not free - it is 5 euro a day, and is not included in the room rate.

However, the positives far outweigh these small imperfections, and by all means I would stay there again. The hotel is impeccably managed and is exceptionally comfortable. I wholeheartedly recommend the hotel if you have a car. The views from the balcony are of such tremendous beauty that they will forever remain the most cherished memories.

The truly exceptional service of this hotel manifested itself in sending me a forgotten item to my home in Boston on my request - they found it and sent right away. The attention and friendliness of the staff is exemplary.

Bellagio itself is a jewel, although it turned to be not as artistically and culturally significant as Isoli Bella e Madre on Lago Maggiore. I adored its Duomo - chiesa di San Giacomo, and the view from Villa Serbelloni on the Duomo and Bellagio is memorable, while the visit itself was not as amazing as travel guides suggested - teh vegetation was not as luxuriant as in Stresa, Locarno or Lugano, and the view over the Lake from the hilltop is essentially the same as from the Northern tip of Bellagio; although there are some pleasant ruins of supposedly Pliny the Younger's villa on the hilltop, with wild mushrooms and cyclamens abound, testifying to Bellagio's cool climate.

The town is so exceptionally pretty and peaceful; it is hard to imagine the incessant wars and bloodshed of the past, from Roman times of Pliny to Frederick Barbarossa, Pier Luigi Farnese, Houses of Visconti and Sforza, Spaniards for two hundred years and other political forces playing crucial role in its long history, dating back prehistoric times. Today, however, it is certainly one of the cutest and charming places on earth. I was exceptionally lucky with the very warm weather in early October 2011; there were no crowds, which added to my pleasure of making a pilgrimage to Bellagio and staying in Borgo Le Terrazze.

Strongly recommended, especially if you have a car.

Room Tip: Next time I would book a room on the highest floor, as far from the road as possible to avoid the pa...

I reviewed this place under Bellagio Apartments, but now have looked back on my notes to find out the correct name. We booked the Lake View Suite here with a breathtaking view of the lake from our balcony, and the pool.....wow! so hard to sit there over a glass of prosecco taking in panoramic views over the lake from your sun lounge. With fabulously helpful receptionists that speak English and shuttle you to and from town, you get luxury, service, peace and quiet and the view....to die for. The church bells in the distance from each town, will stay with you forever. Very reasonably priced.

We stayed there late June 2010.

Wonderful location with view over the Como-lake. Close to the center of Bellagio and the ferries to the nearby villages. Accomodation is excellent, service correct and friendly.

We stayed at the Suite Bellagio for just one night. All we wish is to return there for a few more days. The view is incredible. What you see at their website is absolutely true!
The room itself is very spacious, clean and the bathroom is large. The only tiny flaw is the size of the TV set. It was a 20" and a little hard to be watched from the bed, due to the distance.

We only stayed one night at Borgo Le Terrazze but wish we had stayed longer. The hotel is located just outside Bellagio high on the hill overlooking the lake. The views are unbelievable and we found it hard to drag ourselves away from our private terrace. The rooms are very large and well appointed. The swmming pool is stunning. There is good secure parking on site and the hotel runs a regular shuttle service to Bellagio. The delicious breakfast is served on the terrace and drinks and snacks are available there throughout the day. The staff are very helpful and organised transport to and from the family restaurant which was very good.

Like at the Hotel:
Great Location and great view !
Big and clean rooms
Great design of the rooms
Free parking and Wi-Fi
Great Bath
Good Breakfast

Didn't Liked:
Reception is not available at all times.
when somebody calls you from outside, you depends on the reception to forward the call, and this could be a problem when they not there at al times.
(anyway - the reception hours are mentioned when we reserved the room, so we are not actually complaining about it...)

Room Tip: Ask for a view to the Como Lake.
