“Great views/food; mind the end tables!”
Reviewed 17 July 2014 via mobile

Lovely place with wonderful food, staff and views. A bit on the pricy side, but you know that getting into it. Only strong suggestion I would make is to NOT get seated at the far right end of the place. There's a little public park right on the opposite side of the bushes at that end and listening to some family scream and shout at their kids for part of our meal could have been done without.

“Peaceful location, superb view, decent light lunch”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We were refugees from the limited delights of Menaggio and after looking round the quainter parts of Bellagio we wanted somewhere peaceful and shaded to sit and have a light lunch and naturally a glass of a crisp white wine.

We found it; the Florence is a couple of hundred yards north from the ferry pier, and just what we wanted. There are tables under a sort of arbour across the road but we preferred the shade and peace of the tables against the main building, under the portico. Attentive waiters, decent food, reasonable prices, calm surroundings, free wi-fi, and yes, a crisp white wine.

“First Impression, Should Have Left”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

We are like you... We moved from menu to menu wanting to find a nice place and a pleasurable dining experience. Well, be careful as you may not get it here. Our first impression was to leave after asking for a table near the lake and one of the waiters snapped back at another for asking. Tables were open when we got there and a few were still open when we left. It appeared like the waiter didn't want to be there and certainly was not welcoming at all. We ordered our food but were not asked if we wanted wine. I asked for a wine menu when the secondo piato arrived and it took a few minutes for them to bring the menu. By the time they came back, we had finished our meal and declined ordering the wine. The food was average at best but the real turn off was their attitude of indifference. Lots of great places to eat in Bellagio with servers who understand the importance of their customers. You may be best to ignore the beautiful spot its situated in... It's amazing how one person can make a difference. By the way, I approached the waiter and mentioned what I thought of the service and he responded that it was a problem for me?? There is one thing for sure... Two more days in Bellagio and they have seen the last of us. See other, more favourable reviews of our stay.

“Great Local Beer”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Beautiful lakeside setting but priced accordingly. Staff as we found in most of Italy, you have to work on them to gain a smile. Our waiter was genuinely pleased we liked the beer he recommended and it was good beer. We didn't eat so can't comment on the food. Oh and we didn't gain the usual free bowl of crisps with the beer. A good spot for a special romantic drink rather than an afternoon with the mates.
